What's wrong with Josh?

2. Josh isn't setting his feet and stepping into throws: I think this is related to the first point. He's coming to checkdowns so late in the play that he rushes the throws and doesn't set his feet. These tend to be upper-body throws where he whips his torso around and is almost falling away from the target. These throws often go wide for obvious reasons.   

 

I think some of this is that he doesn't trust his receivers. We need to make a trade and get Palmer back and Kincaid fully healthy. Finally, I don't think any of us would be having this conversation if Moore and/or Shakir could get a second foot in-bounds. It's not college, boys! Drag that trailing foot!

 

He looked very off in the first half but very different in the second half and looked much more like his normal self making several patented Allen plays and throws.

Some good analysis there.  He's definitely is spooked by the INTs.  He isn't playing with that swag and has no confidence throwing the ball.  He has to snap out of it.  INT's will happen but if you score enough they can be overcome.  Look at Mahomes last night, 2 first half picks and he didn't get down on himself, he got angry and kept throwing.

I just went and watched a few plays from the 3rd, and you're correct. He started to click on some throws there. One on a bootleg to Keon and another when he steps up and hits Hawes on 3-7 in the RZ. I think this didn't leave the impression that it could have because the Bills pulled Josh for the entire 4th.

Even the TD pass to Shakir I don't think we realize what an elite throw that was...essentially he "told" Shakir to turn towards the sideline by where he put that ball on his outside shoulder because he saw the defender coming from the inside. So instead of spinning into the defender, Shakir spun away from the defender, up the sideline and to the house...in part because Allen made an elite, perfect throw on the play after diagnosing the situation properly.

Idk, there’s something going on. But how about the fact we have no downfield passing game and we turned one of the most talented gunslingers in nfl history into a game manager while he’s still in his 20s?? Imagine doing that to Favre or elway in their primes

Agreed.  Low volume makes normal passing game miscues stick out more.  He will miss a few than make 10 in a row.  Gotta just be happy with a historic rushing day by Cook.  It’s like saying Cook didnt run enough if Allen threw for 500 yards.  Brady wants a balanced attack so he can hammer a mismatch or tactical advantage.  He was the OC vs the Rams, Ravens and Lions.  If they can attack outside, inside, down the field,  over the middle, or underneath they will.

This is kind of a yearly thing. Always looks like at some point he doesn’t trust WRs. 4 years in a row heading into November with WR issues.

Right on! Keon legit runs into defenders too. Its awful. I just watched a huge breakdown on him last night - wanna say like ten separate plays dialed in on him. Its so bad they aren’t even looking his way.

Wasn't this how Josh was in the weeks leading up to Dorsey getting canned?

 

He'll do his 5 step drop. His reads aren't open, he bails early on the pocket. Then he looks dejected and helpless on the sidelines.

 

Is Brady not running plays where the routes match the qb drop? Are the wrs not where they need to be? Or is it Josh? Probably a combination of all. But it's still on Brady to get this working.
