But he hasn't been very good this season either. Not a total liability like he was at times in his rookie season but still too many lapses in coverage, too many bad angles, and too many missed tackles. He might have won us the Saints game so I'll give him that. Yeah on all of this, but "winning the game" is a pretty big thing and you're probably right about that. If that's a TD instead of a pick, I suspect the Bills lose that game. 1 Quote

Scary thing is, the last we saw of Poyer in a Bills jersey a few years ago, he was completely washed. We were celebrating when he moved on. He’s many years removed from “All-Pro Po,” but can he be better than Rapp at this point is all that matters. I’d like to see them gamble on the rookie, Hancock, provided he knows the defense well enough. 1 Quote

corta765 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Makes sense and Rapp has been beyond disappointing this year. Bishop I think is having some ups and downs but can be a quality starter in the future. The fact Beane ignored though this position and didn't bring in a legit vet to compete sucks. Kevin Byard was available in 2024 and he would have been great to have next to Bishop, the Bears have loved his play the last two years. All the years of stability and great play from Poyer/Hyde show now with how bad our backend has been. 2 Quote

He seems like a smart kid. Just needs reps and experience. I think the tools are there. Everybody said the same thing about that Josh Allen bum and look how he turned out. Quote

Allen2Moulds Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago WOW....the football gods must of heard us. All we need now is Max to hopefully replace Tre in a week or 2, and Hancock to be the solution to our safety problem. I for one, have high hopes for Hancock. The Bills did, what ironically the old regime was smart at doing. Getting guys that were CB's in college, and drafting them to be a safety in the NFL. I believe that happened with both Jarius Byrd, and Aaron Williams. Hancock was a starting CB for Ohio State, and although not highly regarded as an NFL CB prospect, he seems ideal to start a safety. He's6' tall and 195lbs, ran a 4.42 at his Proday. Likely would've been in the low 4.5s if it was the combine. Good vertical. I know it was only preseason, but he popped, in the limited action we saw. This is a question for any Ohio State fans on here. #1 How was his tackling in college? #2 Was he asked to play a lot of zone coverage in college? 1 Quote

colin Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago i see this as a shadow benching. rapp lost his courage, i think the concussions have him doubting if he want's to play or not. mcd will not tolerate that, so he made a drastic move. i really really hope hancock ends up being a total db gem. gosh we could use it. 2 1 Quote
Urban Achievers Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Roll with Bishop and Hancock! The new generation. Take the good with the growing pains. And let them evolve together. Also sounds like a good law firm name. 3 2 Quote

If that's a TD instead of a pick, I suspect the Bills lose that game. To be fair he also tried to lose the game for us on that 4th quarter drive where New Orleans got into the red zone with a chance to take the lead. Cooks got wide open in the endzone and Rattler just missed the throw. Always hard to tell for sure who in the secondary is at fault for a coverage bust but to me it looked like Bishop was late to get to his spot. I know he is super athletic and that INT was the one example you can point to where the athleticism made a difference. But in the modern NFL and especially in McDermott's defense safeties need to be more cerebral and technical than athletic. I've only seen slight development from Bishop in those areas.
