But the players can't execute the most basic stuff either. Babich has to go. I don't think that is a silver bullet but the not being lined up right on 3rd down in the redzone type stuff has only been a feature since he has been in charge. He is in over his head. Fire him and make McDermott directly accountable for improving the defense. 2. That said there is some Brandon Beane blame there too. Bishop is trash. Williams is worse. Tre White is washed. Rapp is a backup out of his depth. And extending Bernard was a mistake. 3. On offense, Brady isn't faultless - the Falcons never stopped James Cook. He had 4.3 ypc at half time and yet had only 7 carries. He ended at 5.1 ypc on 17 totes. I don't care about load management he is our only weapon. He has to get the ball. Last week and this we have gotten away from him to put the game in the hands of bad receivers. It makes no sense. I don't want to be a run first team but with this roster we HAVE to be. 4. Josh was crap last night. I didn't think he played poorly last week really except for the pick but last night he was bad. The ball never quite seemed to be coming off his hand right and then he got frustrated and was pressing and it spiralled. But I do not for a minute put this on Josh because...... 5. The ineptitiude on offense isn't really on the OC or the QB. It is on the General Manager. He thought Keon Coleman was worth the 33rd pick. WRONG. He decided to spend his cap dollars on mid range FAs lile Samuel and Palmer. WRONG. He vehemently and aggressively defended his total under prioritisation of receiver by blaming radio guys in the spring. WRONG. Teams are basically bracketing Shakir, manning up everywhere else and daring our receivers to win and not a single one of them can. Yes I hated Brady going back to the gimmick sweep play, but he is running gimmicks because he knows what you know, what I know and what Josh Allen knows. In conventional drop back offense his skill guys cannot get open. And that is on talent. And that is on the GM. 6. That is as bad a Bills performance as I can remember since the Peterman meltdown in San Diego. Pathetic. McDermott is squarely on the hook for the defense and as I say I'd make him directly accountable for that the rest of the way. Brandon Beane is on the hook for the offense. I think everyone (possibly except Pegula) believes the extension of their tenures should be a year to year decision at this point. They will be evaluated at the end of the season but right now there are more black marks than credit points on both ledgers for 2025. Both seats should feel boiling hot. I agree with everything except about Palmer (I think he is a very good signing, in fact him getting injured changed our whole offense) and your number six. I have seen much worse than this, Ravens last year and Colts 3 years ago. Those were complete defeats on both sides of the ball. This was bad but honestly we has a chance to win this game with a few minutes left. Quote

They played a part in their own downfall with stupid stuff. This was just failure to execute the most basic football. And that makes it worse IMO. 1 1 1 Quote

There is something with Beane where they can't make great first round picks but nail the rest of the draft. Elam in the first and Benford in the sixth, who should be the starter. It's maddening we picked Coleman and not McConkey. Everything I understand about the two players is McConkey would have been more of a McDermott guy too. Quote
Gugny Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago We don’t have a Super Bowl roster. We don’t have a Super Bowl coaching staff. Another season of “getting to the playoffs” and wasting Josh Allen’s talent coming up. 1 1 Quote
Bill from NYC Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago (edited) Here are a few more: 1) The offensive line was disgraceful. it was bad to the point of bringing back memories of the likes of Corey Louchiey, Melvin Fowler, Jerry Ostroski, etc. It was painful to watch them stink up the field and we are lucky that Josh came out of this debacle with only a seemingly minor injury. 2) McDermott and Beane built this team around DTs and Cornerbacks, right @GunnerBill? Well, the Falcons ran for 210 yards on 32 carries. Not too shabby. Oliver made some nice plays but the truth is that they ran all over us. Drake London is a fine receiver. In five games has has caught for 427 yards. The problem is that 158 of these yards were against us last night. 3) Atlanta is a 3-2 team. This record includes a 30-0 loss to Carolina. This was not like getting beat by the Super Bowl Cowboys. 4) It is far too early to give up on Keon Coleman being a star receiver. That said, last night sorta pushed me in that direction. 5) I am NOT giving up on the season, however; a few more game like this and McDermott must go. This is jmo. 6) Will McDermott (if he isn't fired) see the light and go after wide receivers and blockers to make life easier for our great quarterback? My answer would be yes, as soon as pigs fly. The two of these 100% "equal partners" will jump all over corners and safeties. 7) Yes, this game was a disaster, but we have stuck with them through worse times. Can they bounce back fron this? I think they will but I don't have any idea to what extent. 8. I hold onto hope that we will come back strong and win games, to include the Super Bowl. Let's hope that they are able to regroup and not have any more games as horrible as this. It was just too painful to watch. 9) GO BILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Edited 8 hours ago by Bill from NYC 1 1 Quote
GaryPinC Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago This one reeks of a locker room problem, probably caused by bad coaching. That was the worst performance by our O-line I've seen in a long time. No energy, save the third quarter ground game, and no cohesiveness. The entire team effort was glazed eye dullness. Josh had no fire either, couldn't escape the pass rush because our O-line could barely slow them down backing up that quickly. Definitely all the problems everyone has mentioned but it starts with the team having no fire to compete yesterday. Quote

Coleman is a JAG. And slightly #1. The oline was not good last night but a lot of the pressures were blitzes. That isn't normally oline. It is design and hot routes. There was one where Josh DEFINITELY had a hot and failed to throw it to Cook. That is on him. But I'd need to go back and look through all the others. Blitzing Mahomes or Brady or Manning was suicide. Blitzing Allen works. And it is because they don't have receivers who win early to punish teams for blitzing. So Beane traded back twice to teams drafting better receiver options ahead of us so he could select a receiver that doesn't have the capacity to master the understanding of the position at the NFL level. That's a serious indictment of the GM's capacity to master the GM position at the NFL level than it is on Coleman. 2 Quote

He needed to do start doing targeted overhauls of our scouting system at least 3 years ago. Particularly D line, LB and receiver. Ironically, he finally hit on one with Walker. Bishop alone missed at least 4 tackles and I stopped counting in the first half. Cam should have had a pick. Shaq should have had a pick. For a game where our offense and defense played so badly there were still opportunities to steal a win and we were having none of it. Coleman and Bishop were Beanes picks that have really baffled me. uticaclub Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago 1 hour ago, Dan Darragh said: This is clearly true. So it makes you wonder why the front office was so fixated on him back on draft day. They traded down not once, but twice, because he was the guy they really wanted. Never mind who else was on the board and how good they've turned out to be. That's a shame, but the real concern here is that the front office was so wrong about a guy they were so fixated on. And if you want to write the story of the Elam draft, you can copy-paste. The only two really good draft choices this team has made in recent seasons (besides Walker, for whom it's still too early) were both random later round dart board shots: Bernard and Benford. Culture over talent pick, they thought he would be a good character guy and overlooked his on field ability Quote

Mango Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I think we have a Beane issue more than a McDermott issue. I have faith McDermott is still a good coach, he's proving to be one of the winniningest without a SB. It is time for a GM to sit above the HC and not be in the mud with them. It was great to get this franchise to wear it is now. I think Beane is too close to the roster, staff, etc, paired with meh drafting, has really sunk this team. Quote

We need a WR before the trade deadline. Go get one with whatever it takes. Don't worry about giving up draft picks you'll waste on bad choices. Its past the time to do the job like there's no tomorrow. Winning the SB is all that matters. For starters, I heard AJ Brown is unhappy in Philly and could be available. The defense has reinforcements coming off suspension and injury. They should show some improvement after the bye. Quote
