Guys... I appreciate that we all want the Bills to win a Super Bowl this season, but these were objectively poor long term decisions.

Spending a 3rd round pick on a guy who isn't on your team the next year is rarely a good decision. It's a particularly bad one when they don't have a massive impact on the team's ultimate goal, which is to win a Super Bowl.

You can all disagree with me if you like, but blowing a 3rd round pick on a guy who will only make you marginally better for one season is a poor strategy and shows no patience in teambuilding.

There is the issue!  You, respectfully, have the wrong objective.  We showed patience in 2017, 2018, and 2019.  The core of the team was built by 2020.   We even endured the purge and reboot. We are no longer patient.

Many (probably the majority at this point) of us are no longer interested in teambuilding.  We really are only interested in a Championship!  I don't care about 2026 or beyond.  The Rams didn't either when they got Von and they won it all.

We have the MVP of the league, if you are not doing everything to win a championship this year then you are doing a disservice to Allen and to your fans.  We have no idea how long he is going to be able to play at this high a level.

October 1987: two first round picks and Greg Bell for Cornelius Bennett.

I was a HS senior partying at a UConn Fraternity house.  Big party going on, I walked through living room and I see on TV ticker- “Bills trade for Cornelius Bennett”.  “The Bills got Bennett!?!?”  “How did we get Bennett?!?  Holy ***** the Bills Got Bennett!”

Everybody wants the roster to improve immediately in areas of need. I get it.

However, impatience has killed Brandon Beane and this team in the past.

Ask yourself this question... when was the last time an in-season trade worked out for the Bills?

I can think of plenty that didn't:

Kelvin Benjamin for a 3rd round pick.

Amari Cooper for a 3rd and 6th round pick.

Rasul Douglas for a 3rd and 5th round pick.

So, for all of those who will inevitably say "Brandon Beane caught sleeping again" ... name one time we traded for a guy in-season and the trade worked out for us?

Fact is, teams are willing to trade away these players mid-season for a reason. The truly valuable trades typically happen in the off-season, not during.

Rasul improved us at corner. Cooper had plenty left but  just couldn’t dominate like he did in Dallas or Cleveland. He improved the receiver room though. Remember we lost a tough game in the championship game with Douglas and Cooper. Benjamin was more of low percentage addition. Why bring him up even, we weren’t a team in a win now mode. Always look to improve instead of flailing at reasons not to.

Why did we sign Josh Palmer? He gets a lot of money to do nothing.  We should have kept Mack hollins truthfully.

We have two injured rookie corners so, I am very much against trading for a CB.  We desperately need a legit WR but there’s no one worth acquiring. They’ll just end up being a Coleman/Cooper/Palmer…..

Considering it would probably pretty cheap in terms of draft capital I wouldn’t mind at all if we traded for a competent backup RB. Would be insurance for if Cook got hurt and would also help keep Cook a little fresher for the playoffs.

Buffalo might not get their secondary right until week 10 or so, and will it survive the next five games?  Getting those suspended players back after the bye should help quite a bit, as they should improve the Buffalo pass rush.

Still, I question Hairston's being of value, as the kid hasn't even practiced since before training camp. Letting Douglas leave looks to be a bad move right now.

Is there a CB worthy of being traded for out there?

Amari Cooper made a lot of big plays last year, even though he perhaps did not give us everything we wanted…hell, the pitch back to Allen for the TD in the snow against SF alone was almost worth a third round pick…

That’s what made me say a toss up 🤣

Seemed like the whole nfl quit on Douglas lol he didn’t get a shot until Miami lost multiple corners to injury after trading Ramsey.  Douglas has been playing well though down there

Tariq woolen seems like he got benched and will be leaving Seattle in the offseason anyway..  bills won’t overpay though and if Seattle wants to move him someone else probably will

the two realistic cb trade targets just got traded for eachother which complicated things haha the other options are veterans kinda having bad years that a change of scenery might help..  cam Taylor Britt has been struggling in cincy this year and is in a contract year

It has to be for the right guy. Sometimes the trades that you don't make, can also hurt you, like the year the Rams traded for Von.

I’m convinced if the Bills made that trade for Von during the midseason. 13 seconds never happens and the Bills likely win the Super Bowl.
