HappyDays Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago In this video Erik says the Bills have just TWO pass breakups over the entire season, which unsurprisingly is the worst in the league. One of those was an Epenesa tipped pass from last night so really just one legit pass breakup from the secondary all year. I don't know what happened to Benford, he has massively regressed. Meanwhile Tre obviously just can't physically play the position anymore. They will need to get Hairston on the field as soon as he is physically capable and hope for the best. 1 2 Quote
JP51 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I tend to think thats because teams run all over us they dont need to pass LOL... seriously though, I would say overall this is the worst secondary I have seen in a long time... makes you long for Rasul and Kair LOL... 2 Quote

Sweats Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago my god, i would have been a lot better off having not knowing that stat............but, i thought McD was a D guru? I'm gonna be sick Quote

The Wiz Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Well, McD said it himself, the defense is meant to dare teams to pass the ball so they are taking advantage of it. What a guy to help out the other teams offense! Quote
Brianmoorman4jesus Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago All I keep hearing is how T Johnson is an all pro. We are horrendous on 3rd down every year and guys just streak wide open across the field like Childs play. Him being out there also makes it so we can never stop the run. It’s a complete joke. WTF is this guy so good at? Quote

I didn't realize ripped passes at the LOS counted as a PBU. If correct that throws another alarming thought out there. Our front isn't getting in the throwing lanes and batting balls at the line either. Quote
TheyCallMeAndy Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I don't know about that, ESPN has us with 11. 1 Quote
All_Pro_Bills Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Don't forget how complicated this scheme is to learn and play. First, locate the closest receiver. Next get as far away from them as possible while still remaining on the field. When the QB throws rhe ball don't break on the route until the receiver catches the ball. Lastly, make sure to attempt the worst tackling technique as possible and make sure to take bad angles and miss. Allowing max YAC is best. Remember this is very complicated. Allen2Moulds Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I don't know the exact numbers, but as I watching the game, I said to myself, no one in this secondary ever gets a hand on the ball. Half of our secondary is Tre and Rapp. Both are very average in size, and below average in speed. Teams are regularly exploiting it. Bishop is more athletic, and has improved, but he has short arms, in still a tidbit late to diagnose. Quote
colin Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago we simply don't contest catches, mcd seems to like his dbs to be clever mcd guys who sell out hard to get tackles in the run game, have seven reads and 3 communication calls pre snap, and stop passes with positioning. the problem with all that is it is very fragile, and just one safety or corner getting hurt means it all falls apart. we've seen this show too many times. Our players must be coached to not move toward a receiver entering your zone, just hold your hands out like a basketball defender & wait until they get open behind you and catch it. Now go chase him down. Quote
freddyjj Posted 37 minutes ago Posted 37 minutes ago So wondering how all this gets corrected in season. Tre to bench for Hairston/Strong platoon? Benford stays at CB1? Hancock takes some reps at S and NCB? Can the next few years' secondary look like Hairston and Strong at outside CB, Hancock at NCB with Bishop and Benford at S. Would seemingly get our best athletes out there and offer greater speed and size than what we have now. Tre, Taron Johnson and Rapp from a speed standpoint are very pedestrian at this point. And I believe the 5 younger names mentioned are best combination of coverage and tacklers in the Secondary of all players on roster currently. Quote
Pete Posted 12 minutes ago Posted 12 minutes ago We need CB2 and WR 1 badly. What do you got Beane? Are we winning the Superbowl Beaner? Or is it imperative you make some moves to improve both position groups? Quote

At least two other sources have them at 11 PDs, not 2; I am doubting the accuracy of Erik's claim. They have also faced the 3rd or 4th least amount of passes in the NFL this season. 1 Quote
Yobogoya! Posted 6 minutes ago Posted 6 minutes ago It's especially bad this season, but this has been something I've noticed in McD's defense for a long while now. I wonder to what extent they are coached to make a play on the ball, cuz it seems like even when guys are in position they are thinking "tackle" and not "attack the ball". McDermott always likes the players to keep the play in front of them, so I do think there's something being coached in that regard. But this year our secondary is so slow it's kind of a non-starter since they're nowhere near the play anyway. Quote
Augie Posted 2 minutes ago Posted 2 minutes ago I so hope we win a Super Bowl…..just to piss off some of our “fans”. 1 Quote
