Would Jordan Poyer’s age and loss of athleticism really outweigh his leadership and organization on defense?  I’m not sure he’d be doing any worse than our current safeties.

 

Our D-Linemen rarely make tackles on runs.  They can’t be just tying up blockers when you’re only playing 2 LBs.

I just can't comprehend how every team we play has receivers open by yards on more than half of the plays. Why can't our guys close in on open receivers entering their zone, instead of just waiting for them to catch it before reacting?

 

I don't know if Josh has ever faced a Defense that leaves guys open as much as ours.

I too am hoping McDermott takes over defensive play calling.  I'm not a big fan of McD, but we gotta try something in the short-term.

 

But still, Bills won't field a decent defense until they get rid of this hybrid nickel base defense.  This won't change unless McD is gone.  I hate this scheme.

1. How do we not have better contain to prevent maye from rolling to his right. Make him go left or stay in the pocket

 

2. The INT was a horrible decision by Josh. Receiver was not close to being open

 

3. McD has to stop using his timeouts when we are on defense at end of first half. The stoppage provided  miami enough time to score a TD instead of a FG. The pats were a dropped pass away from getting a TD instead of a FG due to our clock management

 

4. This game shows the value of a true #1 receiver. diggs destroyed us

 

On the positive side, even with all the penalties, mistakes and turnovers we were one tackle away from winning or OT

 

On the really negative side, Maye looks like the complete package and vrabel is a good coach. Patriots will be competition for the foreseeable future

We usually play great the 1st couple of months.  We haven't so far.

 

Maybe that's not a bad thing.  We'll get 3 key defenders back (not sure on Hairston's timeline, but 2 very soon).  We definitely need Hairston to play like a 1st rounder, but if he does, it really solves a lot.  Tre is one of my favorite Bills of this era, but he's just too slow now.

 

Tonight was sort of a perfect storm of Diggs playing probably the best game he'll play this season, the Bills uncharacteristically turning the ball over 3x, and the refs doing too many ref things.  If we play tonight's game 10x, we likely win 8.

 

As some others are saying - the worst part is that it's the Pats.  I was hoping we'd have a lopsided record over them in the Allen era, but they've played us more or less even.  Those couple of decades really did a # on me, but it's a process.

I hate the night game losses. I can’t sleep after them and the week gets started off badly. 

 

I’ll say this. we should have won this one and we should have lost to a fully-healthy Ravens team. It all evens out.

Groot is the only contract on that list that I have a problem with and always have.

We are going to have to cut Knox next year- really no way around it…his contract is an albatross around our necks…I feel confident moving forward with Kincaid and Hawes.

Add in the nearly 100 million we've had in dead cap the last 2 years.  Never will be a fan of that.

The worst thing is we have to wait until Monday to correct it. Still, at least it's not a bye and we're dwelling on this for two weeks.

I have a lot of negative thoughts but one positive one.  Dalton Kincaid is awesome and the Bills seem to be finally using him right.

The only time the Bills offense looks good is when they're behind and trying to catch up and Josh Allen is allowed to do his thing.    

 

Also, give credit where credit is due.  The Patriots are an improving team, and Drake Maye looks like a franchise QB.

Maye clutched a completion to Diggs out of the jaws of a sack and Josh threw a bad interception. That is what lost us the game I’d say.

Actually thought Rousseau had a pretty decent game. Nothing spectacular but certainly a building block for the rest of the year if the last 4 games of his are anything to go by. 
 

Tre looks like a rotational guy in his career. Can’t have him out there every snap of every game for the defense, so that is something to focus on. 

Patriots played that game perfectly last night. Absolutely abused that cover 2 and 4 shells. 

Maye made some great throws behind and underneath the coverage last night.
