this is such a bizarre story...

Some guy just trying to pick up used fryer oil from the hotel kitchen, and out of nowhere a Fox NFL analyst in town to call the game appears and starts yelling at the man to move his vehicle, gets into his truck, and ultimately attacks him...

Completely insane

Here's the truck driver he attacked. The guy is 69 years old and said he didn't have his hearing aids in so he couldn't understand Sanchez. Completely insane, indeed.

Damn.  I thought he was always a chill guy

Maybe the problem involves Steroids or CTE, or both.?

This is one reason I’ve never owned a jersey. We don’t know these people.

Sanchez was stabbed and pepper sprayed by a 69-year-old truck driver during the incident in Indianapolis, where the former New York Jets star was due to cover an NFL game between the Colts and Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. Sanchez allegedly confronted the driver, known only as “PT” in the police affidavit, at a loading bay outside a hotel. PT says he was picking up used cooking oil from the hotel when Sanchez, who he claims smelled of alcohol, attempted to enter the truck. PT says Sanchez told him the manager of the hotel said he did not want the oil picked up.PT said he believed Sanchez was “trying to kill me” and used pepper spray to protect himself. When the spray did not stop Sanchez advancing on him, PT said he stabbed the former quarterback “two or three times”. Sanchez then allegedly threw PT against a dumpster before “a look of shock” came across his face and he “took off”. Detectives have reviewed video footage of the incident. Witnesses said Sanchez and PT filmed each other with the cellphones during the incident.According to the affidavit, Sanchez told police “all he could remember was grabbing for a window.” He did not remember who stabbed him or where the incident occurred. The incident left Sanchez with stab wounds to his torso while PT suffered deep cuts to his face. On Monday, Mears described PT’s injuries as “very severe”. Sanchez’s injuries were not life-threatening. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but the hearing has been moved until 4 November as he is still being treated in hospital, where he is listed as in a stable condition.“We’re literally talking about people fighting over a parking space,” said Mears. He added that a number of witnesses as well as security cameras had given police a clear picture of the incident. It is unclear whether PT faces charges but Mears said that Indiana “has some of the most robust self-defense laws in the nation.”

I’d forgotten about Cambodia, but I second this. The Angkor wat\thom temples are spectacular  and I never made it there but I believe Sihanoukville has some decent beaches. I even enjoyed Pnom Penh as I’m a bit of a history buff and find the whole Khmer Rouge thing and the killing fields fascinating (recently came back from a trip to Poland to see Auschwitz too, that’s a bit of a morbid thing to tell people as the reason you’re visiting their country)

Palawan in the Philippines is also supposed to be be beautiful although sadly I never made it there

The killing fields just outside of Phnom Penh is the most chilling and vivid experience I have had in 15 trips to SE Asia. Cambodia has promise in the future but it’s mostly 3rd world. Love it or hate it. Siem Reap which is the closest town to Angkor Wat is probably the cleanest and nicest place in Cambodia. I’m more of a Vietnam regular with short trips to Cambodia and Thailand. Everything is about an hour flight or less. On my single trip to the Philippines, I kind of learned that Palawan is where I should I focused my time. I flew into Manila and spent most of my time in Cebu, Bohol and Boracay. For full disclosure, there were some dating pursuits that absorbed some of my extra days. No regerts.

Blackout drunk is blackout drunk and I'm going to guess that this weekend wasn't the first time.

Well, it is an acquired skill after all.

I’m wondering what triggered Sanchez?  What enraged him so much that he was being aggressive with a 69 year old man?

My guess....he got blackout drunk plus a side dish of CTE symptoms.  There's just no way to explain why a man with no history of this would become unhinged like the reports are saying.  There was no reason for him to even be where he was or say anything to the old guy who was working.

I recall an attorney in my area who had the stock explanation of "Your Honour, my client had the misfortune of mixing alcohol with prescription medications."  It didn't matter if it was armed robbery, jaywalking, or embezzlement.  Let's see what Sanchez's lawyers come up with.

I think his defense team will try to attack the victims credibility and make HIM the aggressor and claim some sort of "self defense" case

But the video is what will tell the tale in my opinion. I am guessing he will settle before any trial.  WE'll see
