  • bills742 changed the title to James Cook AFC Offensive Player of the Month (September 2025)!

Overpaid

Not worth the money

Not elite

Troublemaker

Not a team player

Diva

Can't catch

Cant block

Can't break tackles

Don't pay running backs

Ray Davis or Gore Jr would be just as good

And the classic, "If he behaves" post...

Any other horribly inaccurate takes I am missing??  Feel free to own up to them...

I gotta be honest- had my doubts Cook was worth the money but he's definitely gone full playmaker this year!

Hard to believe we haven't had a RB earn this distinction since 1991. We've had some damn good rb's even during the decades of futility, but obviously we didn't make a habit of consistent offensive production during those years.

I still say, "Let 'em walk"

Don't give in and then let the other players think they can 'hold us hostage too'

Easily replaceable

Dime a dozen

Be crazy to play a running back who cannot pass block

Davis will do just fine, just as well

We should not be running this much anyway, need a passing game to finally fix this awful offense...

Trade him for a 3rd round draft pick. Or a 4th if that is all we can get.

NEVER pay a running back, ever...

Etcetera

One day when I have some time I will go back to a Cook thread or so and have some real fun..

Is James Cook worth it?

Yes, worth what he got. Worth "15 mill year". Heck, lets face it, at this point no one would be upset if we had to do $17M.

Saints Game:

Josh Allen 22 pass attempts

James Cook 22 carries

Is Cook being this good going to be used against Allen like the Henry argument was last year for why Lamar didn't earn MVP?

At this point, the only MVP award that matters is Super Bowl MVP

Right now I'd be more worried if Cook ($11.5M AAV) got injured than if Rousseau ($20M AAV) got injured. And I like Rousseau, I understand he has his role and does it well. But the whole conversation about how you never pay RBs got way out of control. For the way this team is built Cook is the 2nd most important player on offense. Maybe the 2nd most important player on the entire team this year. What would our offense be without him?

How long till he holds out for more money? ..lol just kidding..maybe. Well-deserved Player of the month award as he has been a huge part of the O.

It's definitely something we (Beane) should be thinking about. I said as much after week 2.

Given what we saw out of him this offseason, I dont think he'd go as far as holding out. But his agent will definitely be calling Beane, and another hold in could happen in the near future.

It's another reason I was big on "just give the dude his $15M avg". Keep your best, most important players happy.

So much for

1 - anyone could do Cook’s role

2 - Allen has no help.

Cook gets better every year and thankfully the front office was smarter than some fans.

The whole idea of the MVP conversation is so dumb in the first place. Football is the ultimate team game. You aren’t going to be a MVP playing on an awful team with no talent. It’s why I hated the Allen MVP talked (I called him winning last offseason) because it boiled down to some fans just crapping on the rest of the team. We have a top 5 (at worst) oline and a top 10 (probably higher) rb. It doesn’t take away from Allen being awesome but they certainly play a major role in helping Allen.
