Almost every head scratching flag was thrown by him. There was one flag that he threw from 30 yards down field, with three other officials closer to the play. You could even see the white hat looking confused when they huddled. Maybe you all saw something I didn't, but there were multiple calls that the fans had zero idea what was going on. The penalties in the 2nd quarter were maddening. 1 2 Quote
oldmanfan Posted Monday at 12:36 PM Posted Monday at 12:36 PM I don’t think the coaching was bad overall. That 4th down call from Brady was kind of dumb. Defensive calls were fine, but the players did not execute well on D overall. A lot of misreads, lot of missed tackles, lot of dumb decisions (Bosa on setting the edge especially). Still we win by two scores and put up over 30. A workman like effort and victory. 3 Quote

Jr and the 2nd are two different things. When you make your son a Jr. you become Sr. When you die, he loses the Jr. and just takes the name. If you name him the 2nd, you become the 1st and when you die, he continues to be the 2nd. Also, the naming can skip generations (name your kid after a grandfather, etc) or even branches, (named after an uncle) as long as the name is exactly the same. Useless fact of the day 😅😁 Go Bills!! 1 2 Quote

Babich needs to be aware of his skill set and stop leaving him on an island. It was shocking the number of outside runs where Bosa was the only player in the way of Kamara picking up chunk yardage. That is just not putting him in any kind of position to succeed. Yeah Van Demark missed his block. But you don't call that play unless you know the RT can execute the pull. Again this comes down to coaching putting their players in a position to succeed. And even if it was Spencer Brown I still would have hated that play call. That series featured three straight plays where neither Allen or Cook touched the ball. That's a gift to the opponent. Sanders popped a bit today as well. Nothing that shows up on the stat sheet but he had a couple quick wins that impacted the play. He is definitely still figuring it out and is behind Walker in his development, but I'm glad they're letting him get the reps now and not pulling him for like Jordan Phillips. When Oliver comes back healthy I get pretty excited about what that group could look like. Hopefully Hoecht gives us some legit pass rush ability because that spot opposite of Bosa has been practically non-existent through 4 weeks. I think it was a very slick play design and strong counter to duo. My complaint is timing. Pulling lineman on short yardage is always a gamble. That 2nd and 4 or 3 after a heavy dose likley creates an explosive play. Rare miss step by Brady imo. Like the play not the spot they ran it. Hard play action Allen with a pass run option or Cook were the 2 options. Best 2 players one of them has to touch the ball on 4th down. Rotation wise I think Jackson is a healthy scratch because Mcdermott doesnt want to put 3 rookies on the dline on the field at once. Solomon getting the playing time was for him to earn a spot. It is becoming more clear that he trending toward being waived when Hiecht returns. I would already be willing play Jackson over Solomon based of his performances. 2 Quote

When he became the starter at MLB 2 years ago, he was very good as a blitzer, be it immediate or delayed. Last year he did less and less of that, and we used him in coverage more. Which he has shown to be decent in coverage. When Bernard blitzes, as he did today, he causes havoc in the backfield. The Bills need to use him this way more often. It's been my hope all along to play a base 4-3 and send a LB on every play, obviously from different spots. Sure couldn't hurt the run D. 1 Quote

I do believe McD used the perceived weakness of the Saints as an opportunity to see where they were with Samuel, and how useful he might be going forward. And I wonder what their conclusions are? I don't see Samuel as a better returner than Codrington. The Saints have (apparently) been abysmal on special teams. As a one-game sample, it's hard to read too far into his numbers. And i'm not sure he offers anything more than Moore does as a WR. He had a nice third down conversion, and a third down miss. But McD/Beane may feel differently. I don' think Samuel needs to be a better returner than Codrington to stay on the roster or even take over return duties. He just needs to be on the low end of comparable. Because ultimately if we have a rash of injuries Samuel is a better option at receiver than Codrington is at DB. I say that as a guy who isn't stoked about Curtis Samuel's career as a Bill. 2 Quote
SUNTANBILLS FAN Posted Monday at 01:52 PM Posted Monday at 01:52 PM (edited) So let me understand Bosa had another sack and fumble…. Cash Posted Monday at 01:55 PM Posted Monday at 01:55 PM This was by far the warmest game I’ve ever attended in Orchard Park. It was a great time overall. One thought to add to the discourse: I keyed in on Coleman on 2 plays where the CB was playing up on the line, and on both, he absolutely dusted the CB at the snap. The first play was Josh’s pick. Allen was way late in seeing Coleman (or at least way late in making the throw) and by the time the ball arrived, so did the safety. The other play was a nice underneath completion to I think Kincaid (maybe Shakir?). Presumably that was Allen’s first read on the play. No complaints there, but it was kind of a bummer not to see either one result in a big gain to Coleman. 3 Quote

I tend to look to the DL and see what is going on... I will say this.. to date outside of Deone Walker a couple of times and of course Taylor Rapp when it comes to his own team mates... Shaq is the only one I see that lays the wood down and makes you want to avoid him... 1 1 Quote
Big Turk Posted Monday at 01:57 PM Posted Monday at 01:57 PM (edited) More concerning than Bosa not doing well on the edge is why the hell are there constantly plays where he is the only defender in the picture until the player is 10 yards down the field after they outflank him? Where is the next level of defense that is so often talked about as running to the football? Seems like the problem is more that there is nobody else there once he forces the RB to hesitate and then jump outside to string him out. Edited Monday at 01:57 PM by Big Turk 2 2 1 Quote

I actually thought the worst one last night was where he was the only guy in the picture on that side trying to defend a screen 2nd half. The Saints OL were running downfield like "where are the guys I'm supposed to block?" I'm guessing that one must have been a communication breakdown somewhere because surely nobody designs it like that? Quote

This is my biggest head scratcher this season. What happened to Ray Davis? He looked very promising last year and through the first 4 games this year (and even back in preseason) he's show Karlos Williams levels of regression. Here's my thing with Davis's regression. James Cook is our most dangerous and productive player on offense not named Josh Allen (but I think he may be at Allen's level of importance to the offense). However as great as he is I fear he's not built to be a bell cow back. Come later in the season and the playoffs I fear all these early touches are going to take their toll on him. We need someone that can take a bit of his plate especially early in the season. Davis isn't it. Ty Johnson had a great year last year but is showing a bit of regression as well. Is it time to give Baby Gore a couple of call ups to see if he can be a guy? I would. It's not like he could be a downgrade to Davis at this point. 2 Quote

Again, if I missed something live, please tell me, but Van Demark did not have a great game and that was the exclamation mark to me (no pun intended). It may have been the execution, particularly Van Demark's, but to me this was a bad call. It's 4th and short and so the defense is mostly worried about Josh or Cook up the middle. That is where the surge is going to come from. So, if you want to run a trick play to catch them off guard, you want to run away from where the pressure is. The Moore touchdown against the Jets is a good example. I haven't rewatched it, but at the time it did not look like one player blew the play up but like there was a giant traffic jam right where Shakir received the ball. 1 1 Quote
MikePJ76 Posted Monday at 02:23 PM Posted Monday at 02:23 PM (edited) Watching the all 22 for fun and on the third offensive drive, Allen threw the deep corner to knox which got batted down but he had coleman wide open on an in route on the other side of the field....on the next play, Allen goes deep to Coleman and he had Kincaid for a checkdown which would have been a one on one to see if he could break a tackle and get the first down. Interesting stuff. easy pitch and catch to coleman but he went to knox and then under pressure he took a shot to coleman...might have had moore on the crosser if he had another half a second. Where is Dawson Knox? Where is Taylor Rapp? Where is Groot ? Why are you asking where a 2nd string TE is when we have one of the more productive TE's in the NFL starting right now??? Why would you want to involve your 2nd and 3rd RBs if you dont have to because you have a top 3 back in the league? Where is your thought process for these? Rapp not being noticeable.... is a good thing. 1 Quote
