Complaining about the people who have made it possible for Buffalo to have Bills seems to be a habit with you. The fact that I left Buffalo after 40 years and no longer have season tickets doesn't disqualify me from having moderate opinions in this topic. And based on your history here, you should probably say less about others on this board. 1 1 Quote
Chandler#81 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I’ve been a fan of the team since its inception and had season tix throughout the SB run living in Dansville. I left early many times if the outcome wasn’t in doubt or to get to work on time after a night game. Sure, it’s a risk but I never missed a change in the expected outcome. Traffic has always been an issue in Podunk Orchard Park. THIS outcome wasn’t expected. 1 1 Quote

Leaving a two score football game with almost half a quarter to go is kinda wild...like I didn't even consider turning the game off...if they had gone up to make it a three score game then sure, but it was a two possession game with plenty of time to get two possessions. That's who he's talking about...not the people that leave every game or concert before the end/encore to beat traffic...30% of the stadium does not do that unless it is a blowout and it just objectively wasn't a blowout at really any point in time...the bills had two three and outs back to back earlier in the game, why not the ravens? This comparison might be equivalent if by continuing to watch the game until its conclusion you knew you would be forced to go get in your car and drive laps around your neighborhood at 1 mph for the next 2.5 hours. 1 1 Quote
Billsflyer12 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Josh may have had a point, but it probably was something he shouldn’t have said. To question anyone Bills fan faith or loyalty to Josh or the team wasn’t a place I would have gone regardless of how you felt. Quote

Over the years, we usually leave once we determine the game has been decided (it is most often in the closing minute or so), other than some special occasions. We bust out to the car and get home. Kids, other responsibilities (Im also not the one who drives so it isn't entirely my choice). It has treated us very well and where we park and when we pull the chute, we never experience traffic. We left as Henry was rumbling toward the end zone. Game was over. Saying the Ravens had a 99% chance to win was under-selling it IMO. The Bills were beat. With about 11 minutes left, and the Bills seeming to be unable to stop anything, the Ravens would clearly be able to deflate plenty of clock and kill the rest of the game (if they didn't score more points). The Bills also seemed to have an allergy to throwing anything downfield and to wide receivers up until that point. Just sitting there watching the 4th quarter bleed away while Ravens fans hooted and hollared, only to sit in traffic until 12:30AM didnt sound fun. I regret leaving, but this is always the risk we take and in 20+ years of going to most home games, we have never chosen poorly. It was kind of a cool experience in the car on the way home, watching it on Fubo in the back seat, announcing they got the TD.... then everything changed for the fumble and we pulled over, everyone watched, and it was kind of a cool memory. Moving forward, we will probably re-think the threshold of leaving in a similar situation. We left early. I would typically stay until the end of any game but when my dad asked if we were good with beating the traffic it was hard to say no. We were in the lot at noon, its 40-25, the Bills had just punted it back to the Ravens, Henry is closing in on 200 yards and the Bills have shown no indication that they can even slow the Ravens down. Didn't feel like the time to ask him to double our drive time back to the hotel for a less than 1% chance of winning. If a bunch of guys who watched from their couch say this makes me a bad fan I guess I'll have to own it. 4 Quote

They should all be forced to stand outside for 8 hours of community service on high traffic corners in WNY with signs that say "I left the Ravens game early. I'm sorry, it will never happen again." BuffaloBaumer Posted September 9 Posted September 9 My rule has always been anything more than 8 point deficit with less than 6 minutes to go and the opponent has the ball, I'm out. Getting out of the Bills lot at the end of a game adds 2 hours and a night game on a school night is brutal. Would I have stayed if I had known the outcome? Absolutely, but to sit there down by 15 with 5 minutes to go was not exactly something I was willing to roll the dice on for a Sunday night. Fortunately we made it home to watch the final drive, and I recorded that moment, so not all was lost for a memory. Now if I had left the Oiler comeback game early, THAT would still bother me 😛 1 Quote

Don't you know we all start with 3,716 points and for every mile you are from the stadium you are deducted 1 pt, if you hit 0 you are allowed no opinion and go straight to jail for expressing any form of sentiment about the team. I didn't make the rules sorry. Edited September 9 by corta765 2 Quote
Bill51390 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 As long as there still a chance you should be in your seat. The excuse about beating traffic is ridiculous, you know ahead of time about the traffic. If your that worried about it that your gonna leave that early, don’t go to the game. 1 Quote

Haha I was gonna say, I don't know why more people don't just take off work the next day if they go to night games. It solves a lot of problems. I have been to 4 or 5 of them and every time, I requested the day after off. People complaining about getting up at 5am after going to a night game never made sense to me lol Edited September 9 by Buffalo03 3 Quote

Calling out any fans is a recipe for problems. Just ask Sammy Watkins. Josh has certainly stockpiled plenty of goodwill with fans, unlike Watkins, but still … tread gently here No disrespect - but hard disagree here. Josh didn't throw anyone under the bus, and quite honestly Fitzpatrick said it perfectly. Edited September 9 by Alphadawg7 2 Quote
Captain Caveman Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I left early and don't regret it. Traffic going in was awful, on the way out I saw two different pedestrians get hit by vehicles. Night games in general are tough for me, I've got a 3 hour drive home, and after that Derrick Henry TD with ~11 minutes left I had no confidence that our D was going to be able to make enough stops to make it not unbearable to watch. Leaving early had nothing to do with Josh, it had to do with our OC calling an unwatchable game for 2.5 quarters and our defense being absolutely inept for 3. 1 1 Quote
Woodman199 Posted September 9 Posted September 9 Pretty sure no one left because they didn't have faith in Josh, they left because they rightfully had no faith in a defense that let Henry run through them at will. Now unless Josh wants to suit up as a safety as well (surely even that would be an upgrade) and take even more of a load on than he already has on his shoulders it had nothing to do with a lack of faith on the offense. Do you guys thing Josh was saying "Have more faith in me" or "Have more faith in the Buffalo Bills"? Obviously Josh isn't addressing any of us individually, hes speaking broadly about the 20k+ people that left the stadium early. And he is clearly saying "Don't sleep on the Buffalo Bills". The idea of getting into the weeds about "what about my specific situation" in relation to "I wasn't leaving because of YOUUUU, Josh" is weird. Quote
Yockopondowsk Posted September 9 Posted September 9 I cut out of the Frank Reich comeback game at the half. I sacked out at 40-25 the other night. Sometimes ya just can’t bear to watch anymore. Josh is right tho’, and now I billieve. This kid’s going to get us a Lombardi. Quote

Everybody do everything the exact same going forward please. Anybody who left both games early, and attend another game where we are losing need to exit the stadium immediately. This is not a drill. 2 Quote
