Rich Stadium Original Posted September 8 Posted September 8 Yes...the defense looked pretty bad, but lets not forget: 1. Two of your top three CBs were out with injury. 2. Starting safeties have hardly played together in the preseason 3. It was the Ravens offense..talent up and down the lineup. 4. Two big free agent D linemen for Bills under suspension. If/when players come back from injury or suspension and we still see this kind of performance against a lower team, I'll be concerned...last night, not so much given the circumstances. 1 Quote

I'm not sure if they were the ones that were buddy-taped. Quote

Before tonight, teams were 1,875-5 in these situations over the last 20 years. Not sure if 15 in the last 5 minutes were at play here but in 2022 the Dolphins needed and scored 28 points in the 4th quarter to beat the Ravens that dominated them all game. I remember Fins fans started getting cocky after that. It was 35-14 at the start of the 4th in that game. Quote

The Bills lineman on the edge went for the outermost rusher and Hamilton was inside and untouched and ran free to the ball. Someone missed an assignment. When it happened live for an instant I thought it was blocked. Could you imagine if it was omg Edited September 8 by stevewin Quote
Mango Posted September 8 Posted September 8 (edited) Not smart enough for my own thread but a couple of notes now that I'm home from the game 1. The 8pm crowd is different than the 1/4. It was shocking how slow the crowd was to get into it. This was maybe the least rowdy Hopener I can rember since pre EJ Manuel. My entire section was seated and quiet on the first two defensive drives and I am a season ticket holder. 2. Piggy backing on 1, it was INSANE to me that a third or more of the stadium left with 10 minutes on the clock, down two possessions, with Josh Allen at QB. I was embarrassed. WTF. Have we become that over privileged? Are we the Patriots? It gave me KC AFCCG vibes. I was there and 10's of 1000's of KC fans were leaving with Buffalo still alive. 3. I thought this game would be won by whatever team ironed out their early season wrinkles first, I thought it would be by 2 scores, but it wouldn't really matter. I was wrong on all counts. 4. We won today because of Josh. But he was rusty for sure. A couple of plays he should have taken off and he threw some bad balls instead. A couple of head scratchers. That will all get worked out. Worth mentioning but not a concern. 5. Bernard wearing 8 is something I'm not used to and I'm not sure I ever will be. Pretty sure I hate it. 6. I expected a couple of blown assignments to crack this game open. I didn't expect Bernard to get out on Flowers 1v1 on multiple occasions. And I didn't expect Benford to get targeted for so many large gains. 7. I like James Cook. I am glad he was extended. But man, I was hoping he'd be a three down back after signing his extension. His lack of presence on the final drive was frustrating. $12M, game on the line, and still on the sidelines. He was also not good on short yardage. Thats partially on him and and partially on McBrady. Edited September 8 by Mango 3 Quote

BringMetheHeadofLeonLett Posted September 8 Posted September 8 This is some serious Broncos '77 Seconds' heebie-jeebies... and Marv's 100th Birthday to boot! For those who were not around for 77 seconds, that's where it all started. Quote
Bookie Man Posted September 8 Posted September 8 GW kick was actually very close to getting blocked by Kyle Hamilton. Next time you watch the highlights keep an eye on him. He basically comes through untouched inside of the wing man on the left side. The ball actually goes under his hand it looks like. 2nd picture is him right after, he knows how close he came to the block. That would have been a punch to the gut to lose to a blocked chip shot after coming back like that. 1 Quote

Manhandled some on our tackles. Hopefully they got a kick in the shorts that they gotta be gunning from the first clock tick. Long season, but every play…every second counts sometimes. I wondered about the play calling on the drives where Buffalo went 3 and out after they scored the early touchdown. I think in general Brady was calling the game as if he didn't fully trust Josh to be able to make plays, until Buffalo was down a couple scores late and moved into desperation mode. Defensively, I just think Buffalo struggled with the run blocking of the Ravens' offensive line. They had committed to playing mostly man coverage in order to get more bodies close to the line of scrimmage and when Baltimore opened holes anyway, Henry was repeatedly able to break into the secondary where he is a total mismatch for any DB. Cole Bishop is still young and trying to catch up from his injury disrupted rookie season and injury disrupted training camp this year. Taylor Rapp might be smart and a tough, physical player, but if almost any offensive skill position player (Derrick Henry, Lamar Jackson Mark Andrews or any WR you want to name, including Keon Coleman) gets behind him, he's not going to catch up. That makes the Bills especially vulnerable when they try to load the box. Quote

I am an adult and everything but I have to say that kick being blocked would be a gut punch that might have killed me tonight. it would have been the meme we see over and over and over. The praise of the ravens ability to overcome everything and to get revenge would have been everywhere. So many times in history our team gets that blocked, misses that kick or someone is making that against us to win. It feels really good. All the people who survived the 07 Cowboys loss deserved this win tonight! 2 Quote

Kinda like getting a TD from a deflected pass 15 yards away- that was almost not a TD too. But it was a a TD, and it was caught, and we did win. Edited September 8 by BringMetheHeadofLeonLett 1 Quote
