Minor league sport. No offense intended but nobody cares about professional lacrosse.

I hope you don't have hot water in the morning.

Are you worth a sacrifice?

We will have a thread for you every year before kickoff.

The Braves had the league’s top scorer for three seasons - Bob McAdoo - and still never reached the Finals before the team was stolen from us.

That emotional scar has never healed for me. McAdoo, Buff State's Randy Smith, Ernie D., John Shumate. Jack Ramsay. Damn. What could've been.

Don't forget Jimmy Arias: no Grand Slams.

Back in his heyday i was getting a tennis lesson at the indoor courts off Sheridan drive.  Jimmy Arias came in and shouted at us to get off the court, it was his court and his time..  He was such a D-bag lol.  It's funny how one interaction as a young teen stays with you.

As i mentioned the other day in the Off the Wall thread.  Pegula is her beloved Bills.  Great player, can't seem to win the bag game (match),   Sabalenka is the Chiefs.

As I recall, Sports Illustrated, back when it was a big thing, ran an article calling Randy Smith the best athlete in all of American sports, or something to that effect.

Sometime later, I remember reading an article saying some other team was the first NBA team to have three Macs.  They forgot the Braves three Macs: Bob McAdoo, Jim McMillian, and Tom McMillen.

I stopped following the NBA when the Braves left town.

Sabalenka is an Amazon. I'm not going to make conclusions based on Jessica losing to that brute.

There is no curse.

But now that you mention it, the stadium being built on an ancient Indian burial ground and cursing the city in everything EXCEPT LACROSSE does add up...

Thank God they dug down to the bedrock for the new stadium...no bones about it...

I kept following the NBA, but I never, ever watched the Clippers, which was really easy to do in the 70s/80s/90s.

And they screwed over San Diego just like they did Buffalo.

A friend and I were texting about Jessica Pegula’s run at the US Open yesterday—and how the evil juju just won’t quit.

The Sabres made it to the Stanley Cup Finals twice. Came up short both times.

The Braves had the league’s top scorer for three seasons - Bob McAdoo - and still never reached the Finals before the team was stolen from us.

The Bills? Sure, they won titles in the inferior AFL. But never in the NFL.

The current edition of the Bills has earned the highest point differential in the NFL since 2020 - by a mile. Second-most wins. Zero trophies.

And Jess? She’s ranked #4 in the world, has been in the Top 10 for five straight years, and yet… no Grand Slam titles. She’s the only Top 10 player without one. A living, breathing metaphor for the current edition of the Bills: dominant, consistent, and heartbreakingly ringless.

The Sports Gods let us win. Just never the Big One.

The Curse is real.

Look, as an empirical, rational human being, I don't believe in curses or anything else supernatural.

But some of us folks born and raised in Buffalo years ago can't help but notice that Buffalo doesn't earn its fair share of championships.  Call it a curse.  Call it whatever you want.

And even though I'm a rational man, there's a small part of me that feels if Jessica had won the US Open, it meant that the curse was lifted and the Bills were now more likely to win a SB.

Love JPEGs.  She doesn’t win majors because she doesn’t have the top gear the others do….consistent to be a top 10…her path to a major involves some choking on the other side of the net…which is always possible in women’s tennis.
Taliking about a curse is just self pity.

Sabalenka is a beast. But if you want to look at it from a curse perspective, Sabalenka didn't have to play in the round before the match yesterday with Jess Pegula because her opponent forfeited. So Sabalenka was more rested. It is always something for anything that has a relation to Buffalo.

I would not be surprised if some whacky thing happens before Sunday night. Like a team food poisoning epidemic.

Well, we put our kicker on IR and we are running out of CBs again before a game has been played. Does that count? Please let that be the end of this nonsense!

If there’s any food to be poisoned, I say we make it a bad batch of crab cakes for the visitors!
