Really surprised by Coddrington.  Figured Davis would return.  And I think my man Ingram is going to surprise folks.

You thought Davis was returning kicks and punts?  Codrington is worth the roster spot IMO, he almost broke a couple last year - won't be surprised to see him with a house call this season.

Ingram is our Swiss army knife.  Ill be surprised if he's given a chance to do much, outside special teams - hes the insurance policy at too many spots.

I thought either Davis or Johnson if they cut both Codrington and Shenault.  I’m surprised they are keeping a guy just for returns, although he did impress me last season.

I love that Jackson Hawes made the 53.

It feels like that's a really good sign for him going forward.

He was a roster lock. Sal Capaccio reported that Kromer told him Hawes is the best blocking TE he's ever worked with. I'm expecting us to punish defenses in the run game, even moreso than last year.

We kept a Cod, a Bass, and a Solomon.

The only semi surprise was Ingram making the roster, but even that isn’t much of a surprise.

I’d say Ingram, Van Denmark, Solomon and Carter are the first players gone when the IR and suspended players return (depending on position).

I think you are spot on.

Hopefully Carter shows something and they can cut Ogunjobi.  Problem is he will probably be a healthy scratch. Hell they might even elevate Phillips from the PS on game day and sit Carter.

Solomon or Epenesa goes when Hoecht comes off suspension.  Assuming Bosa stays healthy.

Lundt or VanDemark go when Grable can play.  Who dresses on game day may give some clue who is low man on the roster.

Sorry to be an alarmist but CB is still a disaster.

Where is Philips in the lineup?

He is strictly a “break glass in case of emergency” type of layer at this point.  I am not sure he has any definitive playing role.

I still think SVPG is a possible cut when Grable is back as well. Anderson is safe. Any of the other backups could be the odd one out.

Agree it is Carter and Solomon the likely Dline casualties though it DQ looks even more washed than last year then maybe... the other route they can is cutting a DB given how many they kept... if Bishop has nailed down the job might they feel more relaxed moving on from say a Damar Hamlin?

Eric wood said it during the game last week.

Only thing that surprised me was Dane Jackson..

But that tells me they feel really good about Max and Tres injuries!

This WR room has ton of potential

Good point.  SVPG as the heir apparent to McGovern may be wishful thinking.  It would be a good cap saving move if he could take over that role next year though.

Anderson is an interesting case.  It will be interesting to see how many 3 TE sets have him or Hawes on the field.  If they start using Hawes more and more Anderson could be odd man out.  Probably not this year but perhaps next. His best chance of sticking on the roster may be as the back-up C.

I believe Codrington is first to be cut when a roster spot is needed. He can’t play defense.

So you're saying we are building a bully?

How is it SVP can't practice for all of mini camp and training camp yet on roster day he is ready to go and not IRd

It's a mysterious case, I guess they don't want him to miss the year getting reps, thinking he's the guy next year if Mcgovern goes?

Wonder if shavers will ever be active for a game

I wonder the same about Moore/Samuel.  I say only one of them gets a shirt per week. Shavers can at least play teams

I did not know that.

I was just hoping that by next year he could be playing a dual TE/OL#6 role for us as I'm not a huge fan of Alec Anderson.

So, what's the point of signing Jordan Phillips just to cut him? Why not wait and add him to the practice squad if that was their original intent?

He plays special teams, so I bet he will.

If Tre can't go week one, we're throwing Ingram and/or Strong to the wolves. That would surprise me.

The point of them keeping them would be because they have some confidence in their abilities to play.

It’s not like Ingram is getting a Jamarr Chase matchup either

I'd agree with the 3 names in bold. What surprised me a bit was Samuel didn't get traded, though may not be for lack of trying??   I also thought the WR, not going to try and spell his name would have made the team as the return guy instead of Condrington, but guessing Shavers beat him out and the injuries at CB may have forced their hand a bit too.  If anything I'd have thought VPG would have gone to IR instead of Grable so must mean his injury is pretty bad.
