Honestly should’ve been a slam dunk for the Bills as they have a tendency to give local players a chance. Khalil Mack was also another obvious choice Buffalo should’ve made, but I’m glad they didn’t as it would’ve messed up the path to Josh Allen.

I wouldn't say nobody wanted him

As I told you the whole season leading up he certainly was on NFL teams radars but there's only x amount of draft picks

30% of the league is undrafted free agents

And there's just too many linebackers with stats with a higher pedigree from bigger conferences... It just makes it tough for small school linebackers to get drafted

He also missed a season with injury which hurt

I always said he was going to play in the NFL and make a team but I always knew he wasn't getting drafted

I thought he'd for sure be a Buffalo guy. Turns out when you think you know something....ya don't.

Just because he is from Buffalo doesn't mean the Bills have to take all these guys. It is great for UB.

Good for Dolac! Things happen for a reason, and he’s found a spot. Maybe he moves back some day, but for now I’ll point no fingers and just be happy for him.

I feel like more was at play regarding the Bills.  Like they didn’t want another UB guy as the story and pressure of another local kid. They already have Joe, Cam, Ingram from UB. I dunno, just seems like they knew he’d be decent if not very good and they punted on it, and said let him be another teams fun story.

My assumption is the Bills did make him an offer to join them but he chose to go elsewhere. Maybe the kid wants to see a different part of the country, maybe he thought the Rams presented a better opportunity.

The kid did transfer to Utah State before returning to Buffalo for his senior season so it’s very possible he wants to get out of the area and see something different.

Honestly it’s very possible that the Bills called Dolac at some point in the 7th round and asked him if he wanted to be picked if he made it to them and he might have told them he wanted to be a UDFA. That does actually happen there was an agent documentary that highlighted that with a 7th round/UDFA prospect

I couldn’t believe the guy didn’t get a combine invite with his production and solid athleticism.

I was hoping we’d spend a 6 or 7th rounder on him, especially given the injuries we’ve had at the position.

That said, I hope Ciarlo clears waivers and gets on the practice squad. That’s a fun story to follow.

How many UB players are we expected to roster?

The team can barely compete in the MAC. Are we expected to believe inviting double digit UB Bulls to camp is the key to Super Bowl success?

Insane he was not drafted, less insane he made and NFL roster. Baller.

It's not insane when you realize there's 35 3* and 4* and 5* linebackers who had good college careers at bigger programs

Guys who are bigger faster stronger with better pedigree

30% of the NFL is undrafted free agents... I've been saying for years in the UB football thread that he was not going to get drafted but he would make a team

Yeah he led the nation and tackles at UB which was great.. but there's a lot of linebackers all over the SEC and Big 12 and Big ten who had great careers who had a higher pedigree

It takes an insane amount of game tape and physical attributes to go from a zero star prospect walk on..to even a 5th 6th round pick at linebacker where a team like Georgia has five four star and five star linebackers with insane potential.. same with Alabama and Texas and LSU and OSU

If he had more than his two seasons of great production and he didn't miss a season with injury I think he could have got drafted in the fifth sixth range

With his injury and only 2 years of production I knew it wasn't going to end with his name getting called on draft day

I don't get it, Promo.  I just don't.

How many times have we talked about this guy in our Bulls discussions?

Not only did he make the Rams, apparently he wasn't even remotely in danger of NOT making the team...as a rookie free agent, which he never should have been.

They loved him in training camp and they loved him in the preseason.

Utterly crazy to think that there might be four former Bull LBs playing in the league in 2026 when Murdock comes out next year.

We just are too deep at linebacker and the goal of every undrafted free agent is go to the easiest spot to stick that fits how you play

everything I have heard is that the bills liked him but there's a numbers game and he had much better opportunities to stick elsewhere... So we really did not even try

The Rams were a smart choice with a legit path the 53.   Maybe he felt he would be competing with Andersen for a job here and that didn’t sit right with him.

Why are people so sure the Bills did not want Dolac?  I think it is probably that he liked the opportunity with the Rams better.

Would have made more sense than a combo of shaq  Thompson and Kaden Prather.  Should have taken him in the 7th round. We all knew Prather was not making this team to begin with. Dumb.

Ok then.  Dolac was not making the team over Thompson either.
