He won't be coming here, as has been discussed with the injuries we have at CB. After turning them down earlier in the off-season, he changed his mind. Must have not had a better option.

There was conflicting reports. I had heard we made an offer to pretty much every pending FA at the end of the season, including Douglas. I'd estimate it was a very low offer if true.

Others have said he was one of the only FA's not offered.

I'm wondering which it was.

I don't think he changed his mind I am pretty sure he did not want to deal with training camp in the miami heat.

Not gonna get picky here, because who knows... but i feel like the Dolphins were low balling him, saw our injuries and upped their offer...  like I can totally see what you are saying, but if you are gonna take a 1 year prove it deal... I think it is short sighted not to go in and learn the system... cause he gonna have to go play and learn on the job and he is unemployed next year...  but you may be right... wanting to skip training camp is not unheard of...

Thurman Thomas and Jordan Poyer had thoroughly unenjoyable final years with the Dolphins. Douglas is in for the same, that is how it works.

He’s past the “prove it deal” part of his career and well into the “sign with whatever team is desperate enough to give you a one-year deal” phase.  There are worse places to be 30 years old and wealthy than Miami.

Bottom of the barrel emergency signing by the Dolphins who must think their secondary really sucks.

Here's the thing. With all our injuries at CB, we didn't bring him back. That should say all there is to know about where Douglas is as a talent now.

Allen is licking his chops.
