I’d guess that 2-3 spots will change between Tuesday and the opener. It’s one of the reasons predicting the bottom of the roster is something of a silly exercise, since teams wait to see all of the cuts and typically someone’s discards fill a gap on another roster. For the Bills, I think the spots most likely to shift involve the OL and DL, particularly with rumors of Jordan Phillips in the house. Further, there are potential PUP and IR moves that may occur after a player has “made” the team. Just food for thought…it’s definitely a game involving some strategy as to which guys to release that they think they can get back on the PS. GunnerBill Posted August 25 Posted August 25 Not as much as before because they can now IR two players for return in advance of cuts. That was new last year and as such fewer "wait in the car park" type vet cuts will happen. Sure there is still some calculation between an older bottom of the roster vet you might not lose if you cut him for the PS and a younger guy who is subject to waivers.... but generally these days a guy who is cut in the next 48 hours is cut because they were deemed not good enough to make the roster. 1 1 1 Quote
Matt_In_NH Posted August 25 Posted August 25 (edited) Its also not exactly 53 (OK it is 53 on the active) because a couple guys will end up on IR (ability to return), so you will have more like 55 or 56 in the mix. Plus there are guys on IR now that will likely end up with injury settlements. All of those add to the cap as well as the PS. Curious to see if he is able to deal anyone. Bills have 2 suspended players so they will still be on the “53” but not count just like PUP players if not activated don’t count against the 53. Quote

I think they will have SVPG on the PUP plus Larry O and Hoecht on Suspension. I also think they will consider Samuel on IR if he's banged up. So they "53" is looking more like a 56-57 haha. Quote

There have been years past where they have waited til very last minute and we didn't hear about cuts until later in the evening. I know it is one less pre-season game but it felt like it just flew by and now we are in the bye week leading up to week 1! Summer is almost over and we are heading into fall and football! Quote

So we need to restructure someone (probably Dawkins) and it WON'T mean we are creating space for some S/CB or whoever you wish Quote
