boater Posted August 22 Posted August 22 People should get a grip over so-called "taxpayer funded" Pegula paid more than the state, plus he is responsible for the cost over runs which are considerable. All for a building the state will own, not him. In the end, the taxpayers will own a state of the art stadium that they paid half price for. Some might say Pegula got fleeced. 1 2 1 Quote

There was a bit of a "Buffalo Resurgence" happening from like 2012... but then COVID absolutely killed all the momentum and progress and it's pretty much back where it was in the 90s/00s. Gotta keep the Bills at any cost. And when you break down the math, it turned out to be something like $10 per resident per year for 5 years. And I think that was before the Seneca Casino money was factored in. Worth it. sir, we have the GooGoo Dolls. 1 Quote

Love paying for parking( not to mention dodging homeless people and piles of feces on Main Street! lol Main street has improved but is without a doubt a work in progress. The area by the gold dome building I remember forever being awful and it is nice to see it more filled in. Forever one of my favorite stories to tell of old Buffalo before things turned up a bit was in 2006 heading to Thursday at the Square and getting off by the TGIF. Walking over my buddies and I were like oh see Buffalo isn't as bad downtown as it used to be. Legit 3 seconds later two guys start screaming 20 yards in front of us and fight each other. Never change Buffalo never change hahahaaha 2 Quote

And the stadium is owned by the state, not Pegula, so he has to pay rent to the state for it. The state invests for the income and tax revenue. 1 Quote

hondo in seattle Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) Buffalo is something like the 450th biggest city in the world. Yet - adjusted for inflation - we're about to have the 8th most expensive sports stadium ever built on Planet Earth. That remarkable mismatch wasn't going to happen without state & county help. In short, I personally don't care if Terry has a nice yacht. Edited August 22 by hondo in seattle 1 1 1 Quote
gonzo1105 Posted August 22 Posted August 22 I really don’t care. Man made the money and can spend it in whatever way he desires. If it’s a yacht so be it . As for the taxpayers footing some of the Bills, he took on cost overruns of the new stadium on top of his portion he agreed to pay. NYS wastes a lot of money on a lot worse things than keeping the Bills in NY. 4 Quote

One year .5% total. I can guarantee you if you go line by line you will find many things just as annoying or unneeded as a taxpayer. 2 Quote
