At $4M cap number I would have maybe considered that for a 6th and a swap of another pick.

 

He has no dead cap money in 26 of the Bills decided to move on.

 

But we are right against the cap at the moment, and as much as it would be a risk, that money is likely better spent on Simmons (if they were to pick between the two).

What’s the plenty for playing over the cap? I’m sure the bank account doesn’t default on a check that’s $1 more than the cap number, right?.. Let’s test this thing and just start paying guys as much as we can, and see where it goes with the NFL.

I thought he was a very serviceable guy...but kinda thought he was a little overrated here by fans, to be honest.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with it all. People are comfortable with whom they identify. Goes beyond race, too, sometimes. Fred Jackson was a GREAT player, but he was truly beloved by Bills fans because he was the ultimate underdog playing for an underdog city. Probably wouldn't have had the same emotional attachment if he was a Cowboy.

It’s funny because this past off season I brought up the idea of bringing Phillips back as we needed a 1tech. 
 

The Vikings added a lot of DTs and it looked like Phillips was the odd man out but the Vikings had also just signed him to an extension. I think it’s a good move for both teams
