Pete Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Ciarlo ran a 6.97 3 Cone and is great athlete. 6’ 229 Joe Marino is a fan 2 Quote
buffaloaggie Posted August 19 Posted August 19 This guy plays with heart and effort. He'd be good to keep on the PS, just to serve as a role model for hustle. 2 1 1 Quote

saundena Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Honest question, as a Westpointer, how can he play in the NFL right now. Doesn't he have commitments to Uncle Sam as an Army Officer? Quote

Doesn't he have commitments to Uncle Sam as an Army Officer? They basically allow you to defer your service owed to the army if you have a pro-sports contract with a qualified league. You still have to serve but it can get deferred for some time. Previously the army/navy was pretty strict with it, David Robinson had to do two years (I think the commitment was/is 5 years but Robinson had grown to 7 foot 1 during his college days and thus was too tall to serve on most ships so they lowered it to two years) after getting drafted first overall by the Spurs in the NBA draft. Since 2016 on and off (I think it was put into place by Obama and then rescinded by Trump and put back in by Trump, seemed a bit messy) but codified into law in 2022 you can try your hand in the NFL for a bit of time and then do your 5 year commitment afterwards. So yeah you still owe the time so to speak but you can pursue a pro-sports career before you do your time. 3 4 Quote

It would be our luck that the guy turns all pro and then right as he peaks, he has to go and fulfill his obligation to the Army! 1 1 Quote

That would be a surprise, although McDermott loves his special teams players, and Ciarlo has made a case. He's a lock for the practice squad. 22 minutes ago, Matt_In_NH said: He made a couple nice place vs the Giants He also had a couple more big tackles against the Bears on special teams. For a player who was added late to the team, he's made the most of it. 1 Quote

For someone that just arrived recently, it seems Ciarlo has risen above Keonta Jenkins and Ulofushio. Ciarlo played CB in HS, and has played Slot, and a Rover position. Bills like lighter, athletic LBers that can cover. Bills need to replace a lot of Special Team plays this season. Ciarlo is my long shot bet for 53 5 Quote

Crazy that the Spurs drafted a player 1st overall at age 22 knowing he wasn't gonna be able to play for 2 seasons. Not sure if that would happen in today's NBA or any of the major leagues. But Robinson had a Hall of Fame Career so it was the right decision to wait the 2 years. Quote

MJS Posted August 19 Posted August 19 If he makes it, it's because he shows up and makes plays on special teams. It would be cool if he became a core special teamer. Quote
