I don't know if it's familiarity, sentimentality, or something else - but it's clear at this point that they have a level of comfort w/ players they know over potentially more talented players who they don't know.

And they can only do that because Josh Allen. Take Allen away and I bet these guys are out of job. 

I do think there’s a level of arrogance there that’s tough to overcome. There is a belief that “we know better” that leads us to bringing guys like Phillips and Spector back. I’d love them to just bring in guys that are better, even if they haven’t been in the system before.

Trading the Worthy pick to KC was a great example of this hubris.

This was very predictable though disappointing. With injuries we need another LB so we bring in a guy who isn’t good and is always injured but hey he knows this extremely complicated defense  that would take anyone else (besides opposing offenses) months to learn

I don’t get some people here.  If it were your business and you needed a replacement, and could hire a former employee that knows how your business runs vs.  someone with no clue, what would you do?

To me, it reminds me the quick decline of Douglas.  He got here and was told to just do whatever and he did well. 

 

Then a year into the system his play completely dropped off because he was playing within the system and not his strengths.

 

Why we are forcing players into playing a certain way instead of playing to their strengths is beyond me.

Better example would be, if it were your business and you needed a replacement, and you could hire a former employee that knows how your business runs (but his work was subpar when asked to step up and would routinely call in) vs someone with no clue, what would you do?

I feel like the Bills have not always been forthcoming with all the injury news this season. As for your point, it wouldn't surprise me if we see Milano and Williams down for weeks or actually go on IR. So your future might be closer than we think!

 

And I know many past employees that I have worked with that would be better left never heard from again!

Considering how the guys who know the system are performing in this defense, I wouldn't mind rolling the dice with a street FA who has never played here and wasn't issued a play book.

Okay my take is that I would rather have CJ Gardner-Johnson on the PS instead of Spector. Do you disagree? One of those guys has at least a small chance of helping the team later this year and one of them has no chance. We have to stop always choosing the culture fit that knows the system over the more talented player. That's how you end up with Tre White and his rubber band legs covering Stefon Diggs 1v1 in a meaningful game.

 

I don't really care about the PS but the constant inability to be self-aware about ther own bad habits is really depressing.

We have right now as starters Thompson and Bernard.  Williams and Milano can be back soon.  Them Buffalo Joe and Ciarlo.    Then Jenkins on the practice squad.  Is bringing a guy back familiar with the system really worth getting one’s panties in a knot?
