I wouldn't be shocked if he was back on the PS later this season. But I think this is a sign that he's either hurt badly (like out months) or that they really like what they have in Shaq, Buffalo Joe, and Ulo or one of the undrafted players. We all know the top 3 LB's are Milano/Bernard/Williams and there's been a lot of positive talk about Shaq Thompson and some positive talk about Buffalo Joe. If Andreesen is doing well and possibly Ulo is solidifying the ST ace role he was drafted to be that's 6 LB's and no room for Spector. 

 

Has anyone heard anything out of camp about Ulo? Was drafted in round 5 thought to be a ST ace with some upside at LB. Ulo last year was not a factor but there's a new ST coach who can help coach him up and a year in the league could only help? I am curious to see if he's making an impact on Special Teams?

Unfortunate for Spector, but hardly "tragic". He has a month to latch on to the roster of one of the other 31 teams in the NFL.

I was friends with some guys on the UB football team in college. One quote always stood out to me 

 

"Its not hard to get to the NFL, but its almost impossible to stay in the NFL"

WORST most useless player we have had on this team since TE Lee Smith!!

 

And even Smith was able to get on the field though 

We just drafted a Lee Smith clone … dude was VERY valuable as a 6th offensive lineman. He did what he was asked and he did it well, hence the relatively long career

Smith was a very niche role player but very good in that hyper specific role. I think people just forget that you do need these types on the roster.

I haven’t heard a peep about Ulo and he’s someone I’ll be curious to watch in the preseason both on defense and ST. 
But I think it’s worth reminding folks with Ulo too that although he was a rookie last year he’s already 25 - so if he’s not ready for a role now we shouldn’t hold our breath.

I don't hold much hope for his LB upside, but if he could be an ST Ace for a few seasons that would be a big positive. I think one of the possible reasons we haven't heard much from him is that he's not likely doing much as an LB and reporters might not be as in tune with whose killing it on Special Teams? It is possible he's being a contributor there but not getting much attention.

I wondered when the news that he had gotten hurt again & having Shaq Thompson showing out in training camp if they would have let him go it just makes sense because your best ability is availability in the NFL ...

An injury settlement would have been made.

I have a feeling Mr. Spector is going to be a lot like Herpes: he's here for a while, goes away and you're happy, but is always lurking in the shadows (practice squad)
