In a sport where dudes smack each other on the butts routinely (and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen a kiss on the head on the sideline before), I have to think that Wilkins was driving everyone nuts and they were just looking for a reason to jettison him and get out of his contract.

Being gay or bisexual in the NFL is still incredibly taboo, and repression of urges often makes people manifest them in unhealthy or inappropriate ways. Obviously there's no defending the behavior of Wilkins if what has been said is true, but it is understandable when you view it from that lens.

There is definitely more.  He just signed last year so I'm assuming there's a big dead cap hit with it.
