machine gun kelly Posted July 10 Posted July 10 It was definitely over 24 like my favorite show last decade. I’m guessing if you included some safety blitzes and DT sacks you’re looking at 35-39 sacks. Sanders could be a pleasant surprise this year. Breaking it down per DE is too difficult as you can’t predict Bosa’s health, how does the rookie perform, and maybe even big Walker has a few. The other part is we just don’t know how the rotation works which places each DE at a more difficult than other DE of other teams as they play a greater % of plays. Each of our guy is out there no more than 50-60% of the time. Quote

There was another DE listed as a LB I included too. Thanks. Weird we got different numbers. I used pro football reference and counted Miller like you did. Appreciate that you always share your work 1 Quote
frostbitmic Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Rousseau, Epenesa and Bosa should each get 7, that leaves 2.5 for Solomon and Jackson ... I say over. Teams will have to throw more to try and keep up with Josh and our Offense, that gives them more chance to rush the passer. I expect Hoecht to get a few as well. 1 Quote

He belongs on the PS. I think they would rather IR him than try to sneak him on the PS. I think he flashed a little last year and he was a mid round pick who’s not looked completely lost out there. He’s also a more bend driven pass rusher which this team doesn’t have a lot of the coaching staff may like the diversity. Kingsley Jonathan hung around from mid 2022 through camp in 2024 and I think Solomon is a much better prospect and one that was drafted by this team. 2 Quote
Maine-iac Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Right or wrong I feel like I should pick one side of the fence or the other on Bosa. Will he be effective and productive or not? I'm going to pick the unpopular notion that he's going to stay healthy and have a good year for us. Everyone else (minus the rookies) will be what we've already seen that they are. I'm thinking Bosa, Rousseau, and AJ will get a lot of playing time. I'm hoping that with the snaps they get that Jackson and Solomon getting some sacks will leave us feeling like they have bright futures rushing QB's giving us options with keeping (or not) Bosa and AJ in the future. Bosa 14 sacks Rousseau 8 sacks AJ 6 sacks Jackson 4 sacks Solomon 4 sacks 1 Quote
BillsFooteball Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Over. Rousseau is going to take it to the next level this year 1 1 Quote

This is 2025's first installment: Everyone is excited to see how the Bills revamped D-line is going to fare this season....this question focuses on the Defensive Ends. I think the success of the pass rush will be determined by two things.....the strength and stoutness of the Bills new interior D-lineman, and the health of Bosa. I decided to leave Hoecht off the list since he will miss the first 6 games, and because I am not sure if he will get more snaps at DT or DE when he gets back. My prediction: I know that 24 sacks to reach the over is a high bar, but I'm taking the optimistic route and going with the over. The Bills have a strong DE rotation that will hopefully limit Bosa's snap counts, thus keeping him fresh and healthy throughout the season....I'm also expecting a stellar rookie campaign from Landon Jackson as well.. Bosa: 8.5 sacks Rousseau: 7 sacks Jackson: 5.5 sacks Epenesa: 3.5 sacks Solomon: 2 sacks Total: 26.5 sacks What do you think??? I think Bosa will be lucky to get 5 sacks…the other predictions seem ok 1 Quote

Sheesh. You think he’s gonna miss more games than those two years? Like you can expect him to struggle with injury but we’ve seen what that looks like. It’s the 5+ sacks he had the past two years unless you think he misses more than half the season. Quote
nosejob Posted July 12 Posted July 12 I will always grade on production in college. Groot will increase and Jackson and Solomon are our future. I'm extremely hyped for the Dts and with out guessing a sack total, we'll be on the top 5 in both sacks and TOs. Quote

MPL Posted July 12 Posted July 12 They'll be on pace for 30 by the end of the September and everyone will say, "wow, the Bills finally have a pass rush." But then will somehow, miraculously, they'll only record 5 more sacks collectively the rest of the season. 1 Quote
Buffalo ill Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Under. Bills d line hasn't mattered since the Schwartz gang broke up. Quote
Buffalo Boy Posted July 13 Posted July 13 Bosa 0 Groot 8 AJE 5 Don’t know anything about the other two but do know our line has been infuriatingly meh for years…. Counting on Bosa is a fools errand IMO. Would love to see Rousseau get double digits but it isn’t what he does. Scheme or Ability? Epinesa will get close a lot and bat a few but 5 is who he seems to be. Under 1 Quote

Epinesa will get close a lot and bat a few but 5 is who he seems to be. Under Bosa was able to get 5 sacks in each of the past 2 seasons. So I think it’s a fair projection to at least think he can do that. I’m also hoping that the Bills plan to keep Bosa on a reduced snap count in the regular season to keep him healthy. Last two season he averaged about 40 snaps per game with the Chargers which was about 56% of their defensive snaps. The Bills top two DE’s snaps wise per game were AJE at 36 and Groot at 46. If the Bills can get Bosa to play about 30-33 snaps a game that could possibly reduce his risk of injury by 20% or more. My take on Bosa is can he give the Bills 10-12 games? 5-7 sacks in those 10-12 games would allow the Bills to get their young players and Hoecht up to speed as the season goes and have a front line guy produce. beerme1 Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Whoaaaa on Bosa. I mean I'm happy as anyone if he can contribute, let alone lead the team in sacks. Guy has Shawne Merriman vibes right now to me though to be honest. Quote

Reggie White had similar reach and size, but White is much more powerful as a 300 pound man (interesting that he only bench pressed 10 reps though) who threw O-Lineman around. I don't see Rousseau bring that kind of power, ever (more of a tribute to what White was than a slap on Rousseau or anyone compared to him)! Bruce Smith has a similar reach but unbelievable quickness particularly the first step (get on the Stairmaster like Bruce did for his explosiveness Greg). Rousseau simply does not have that. Jason Taylor is another one often mentioned for Rousseau. But again the quickness he had is something Rousseau does not have. Taylor at one point was only 210 lb but got up to 240 lb range without losing all his speed and quickness. So Rousseau probably has to figure out his own way to best utilize his God given ability. He's at 267lb last I checked but I think he can easily put on more on his big frame. Can he simply overpower O-Lineman with one move then use his reach to harass the passer in less than 3 seconds? I bet that's what Beane & McDermott are hoping he figures that out - a CONSISTENT threat. Reggie White was allowed to slap offensive linemen in the head as hard as he could. That helped. Quote
LarryMadman Posted July 14 Posted July 14 One of those guys, Groot, AJ, Joey, will be 10-15 and the others will be 5-10 and the 2 kids will be 3-5, so way over. Quote
