Let some desperate team overpay because their number one corner blew out his knee. Or  Snead at Rams House comes up with a prove it deal. That’s what this guy is likely to get from a good team. Only a crap team or a desperate one will pay him big money. His boat has a LOT of leaks. Sink Or Swim Omg GIF by DefyTV

I can't stand the guy, but he's very good.  The defense badly needed top tier talent.   This guy meets that.

Considering we tried to acquire him a few months ago, I assume Beane would still have a lot of interest.

Hairston could be CB3 and that's perfectly fine

They may have been interested in acquiring him at some point but with the resources they put into DB (and the way they seem to be genuinely psyched for all three of Max Hairston, Jordan Hancock, and Dorian Strong) plus bringing back Tre and Dane as the veteran/mentor types with experience in the system, seems like they're set right now.

I'm betting Alexander wants a long term deal with plenty guaranteed but given his injury history I'd bet that he ends up somewhere this year on a relatively pricey one-year prove it type of deal. Unless a team out there with plenty of space just wants to gamble on him and be like yeah here's a monster four year deal, please dont break lol.

offer him a 1 year deal with huge incentives for playing time and INTs

convince him he gets the chance to "re-establish" himself as a top 5 CB who can stay on the field

and get huge $$$$ from someone next year

I would figure we reached out prior to the draft. I think once they used a 1st on CB position Beane's interest level has come down since.

I'm sure at the right price anything is possible...but the room is pretty cro now IMO

As Coach mentioned, the Bills had trade talks involving Alexander earlier this offseason, before the draft.

Now that we have Hairston, White, Jackson, Strong, etc, there is no longer room for Alexander.

Had this happened in March or April, I could see a world where the Bills had traded for or signed him and spent their first round pick elsewhere. Alas, that's not what happened.

Will be interesting to see who Alexander ends up signing with.

back end CB's end up washing out in Miami who likes their two scrubs away from being washed has-beens.

He wouldn't renegotiate his deal which tells me he'll be looking for a pay day when he gets cut. He could be a good add for anybody looking to take a chance on him staying healthy.

Some guys refuse on principle

or end up humbled on the market

but he likely gets decent coin

That sucks, especially if he ends up with one of our AFC competitors.

Well usually these guys end up with former coaches because of the familiarity and the amount of risk involved.

So

His DC's in GB were

Mike Pettiine - Currently the Assistant Head Coach/OLB Coach in Minnesota

Joe Barry - Currently the Linebackers coach and run game coordinator in Miami

Secondary coaches in GB

Jason Simmons - Currently the defensive pass game coordinator in Washington

Jerry Gray - Currently the Assistant Head Coach/Defense in Atlanta

Joe Whitt Jr. - Currently the Defensive Coordinator in Washington.

Hm, I wonder how hard we did try seeing as he's getting released for nothing?

Maybe we couldn't agree on contract with Jaire himself.

Yeah that very well could have been part of the issues, or could have also been GB wasn't being reasonable then in what they wanted based on them maybe still believing they could get the contract renegotiated.  But now, with FA and Draft over, teams like the Bills also already added guys in both FA and the draft, so the trade interest just isn't there and left GB without willing trade partners.

Personally, I doubt Bills will have interest at this stage after the moves we have already made to bring guys in they are familiar with in Dane and Tre, paying Benford, and then drafting Hairston.  Jaire also seems to want a certain amount of money, so given we brought in vets like Dane and Tre who know the system, paid Benford, and drafted Hairston, seems pretty unlikely this is his next stop.  But you never know either

Maybe we can sign him and send him right to the PED naughty table for 6 weeks too.

A lot of suspect brown envelopes being passed under that table

Well there are a few restrux still available to free up $. Another high risk / high reward move. Already have two of the high paid free agents missing half a year due to suspensions. Then you got Bosa who has a high probability of missing time, add in White and if the possibility of Alexander. The games missed per $ spend could be crazy...

A draft pick + Elam should have got this done in hindsight. There has to be more to it from GB point
