I guess there'd be no harm in bringing him back for the vet minimum. Competition is never a bad thing, but I wouldn't be any kind of excited. BuffaloBillyG Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I called this during the draft. The writing was on the wall with a new HC/GM and making the big move for Hunter. The Bills absolutely loved his work ethic and reportedly wanted him back. He should have a pretty soft market coming off another down year before the injury. All that said....hard pass. Which would likely deflect off Davis's fingers and be intercepted. 1 2 Quote

Houston owes him $11.5M guaranteed for 2025, but whatever his new team pays him Houston will be able to recoup from him because of offset language in the contract. So unless some team is paying him $12.5M or more which is obviously not happening, he has no incentive to play for more than the vet minimum. He's making the same money in 2025 either way. This makes me slightly more willing to bring him in if we want to keep 6 WRs and use Moore as our punt returner. Slightly. Expand Gabe got money from Houston and Jax? Sheesh, he may have the best agent in the league 2 Quote

Expand Dropped easy passes Several Allen INTs went off Gabe's hands or were because he ran the wrong route Caught some very difficult passes too Had some amazing toe tap sideline catches Scored a lot of TDs Seemed like a willing blocker but I'm not 100% sure about that Not worth what he got in FA, but a Bills reunion probably has more upside than downside. Royale with Cheese Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Davis is not a good #2 WR so that's why he wasn't consistent here and didn't show much in Jax. But, I think he's could be a solid #3 or #4.....but we have that covered I think. I don't really see a spot for him here. 1 Quote

Houston and NE addressed the WR position well in the draft. Don't see that. Pittsburgh did just create an opening so that may be. I wouldn't rule out places like Vegas or Atlanta. Miami likes collecting players whose name exceeds their talent too Quote
Allen2Moulds Posted May 7 Posted May 7 I was never a Gabe Davis guy until the 2024 Playoff loss to the Chiefs. Gabe was out, and we had no one that could threaten the Chiefs deep. They kept daring us on the outside with 1 on 1 coverage. Josh threw a couple nice balls to Trent Sherfeld, but you can see that Sherfield just didn't have the same ability. In that limited role, I would love Gabe back, but not to depend on him, like he's mistakenly a #2 WR. 1 Quote

Expand Take 90 to camp though and it would be the league minimum, he's also at least somewhat familiar with Brady and the offensive coaching staff. If you bring him to camp and palmer or samuel gets hit with a major injury, you're much more plugged in and prepared. If you come out of camp healthy, you can dump him without real repercussions. If nobody wants him and he clears waivers, you can plug him on the PS. KOKBILLS Posted May 7 Posted May 7 Strange how things play out... I think if Gabe takes what the Bills were offering him, which I'm sure was FAR less than what he got with the Jags, there is about 0.0000001% chance they Draft Coleman... They are just a little too similar. Both seen as X receivers for this Offense... Similar size. I think Coleman has the better upside... But the Bills probably would have leaned towards a different style at WR to fill out the room. I also doubt Samuel is signed because of the cap ramifications at the time. Anyway... It is what it is now. And with Coleman, and now with Palmer...I just don't see a spot for Gabe. And you HAVE to know in your gut he wants to come back... There's no way Gabe Davis does not want to come back to Buffalo... Quote
