I don't know if we will be healthier again. More depth now though which we really needed although depth at LB scares the crap out of me.

It's happened for like 6 postseasons in a row but somehow that's not enough to establish it's been a pattern and not injuries

Spagnola has five top 10 defenses in yards... McDermott has nine 

 

Spagnola has seven top 10 defenses for points.. McDermott has six

 

Spagnola has 4 top 10 defenses in takeaways

We need to stay healthy and we needed to add more pieces

I am a huge proponent of the fact that once you pay the QB that player has to do more with less. They have to make up for the pay gap in some of their talent. Josh did a very good job of that last year. I expect him to continue to do very good as we move forward. 

 

To Beane's point on WGR, defense has cost us games. We have an excellent RB stable and OL. 

The Bengals model is bad. 

 

I believe the Bills model is bad, because we have the best QB in football and can’t beat the 2nd best QB in football even when he plays lights out.  This is after the Bills have vastly and in-proportionally invested in the defense for the last 6+ years.  Hoping Josh can continue to put up 30+ point a game with minimal WR talent around him is not a recipe for sustained success.

4 pages and I'm surprised no one mentioned he didn't backtrack from his comments yesterday or give some perfunctory "yeah I came in a little too hot." I figured all the "it was not appropriate to speak like that" crowd would have their pitchforks out. Actually encouraged by this. WGR is a clownshow 90% of the time. I dunno why Buffalo as a community can't do better than Schopp, Jeremy White and DiBiase. They should just let the Cover 1 guys take over the programming, at least Thompsett, Prohaska, Turner and Quinn know ball.

And why do we keep losing games to Mahomes? Lack of scoring? Last 4 Bills/Chiefs playoff games Buffalo scored 24, 36, 24 and 29 points. I don't see a lack of scoring. But KC scored 38, 42, 27 and 32 points. Hmmm, I wonder what's causing these losses? 🤔

 

That interview with Pat McAfee spells things out as plain as day: Beane believes teams win in the trenches. Jeremy White, on the other hand, thinks games are won on the long ball. One man's job is to build a winning football team and the other guy flaps his gums for 4 hours a day.

We keep losing to the Chiefs because they have better coaches across the board.  It’s logical to say we score enough points to be able to beat the Chiefs, the offense isn’t the problem.  But when you have greatly prioritized defense the last 7 years with the same net result, maybe it’s time to try something different

He felt it was a weak wide receiver class, and when they were on the clock, none of the options meaningfully upgraded their top four. So why spend valuable draft capital on someone who might be your fifth receiver when they typically play 12 personnel or 6 OL? It’s a candid look at how they approached the board.

 

The average snap percentage for the Bills' 5th WR across all games in 2024 (playoffs included) is approximately 17.84%. The average statline for the Bills' 5th wide receiver in a given game was:

 

1.0 target per game

0.65 catches per game

7.0 receiving yards per game
