It’s important for us that our defensive ends can play the run so I think Bosa playing at a high level is probably a better fit for us. Von Miller was great vs the run. Don’t equate size vs ability 2 Quote

T master Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Through the first 2 games looks as if he can continue that it will have been a good signing and he sounds was if he's in a good place enjoying his time here so far and can't wait till he gets comfortable in this scheme ... 1 Quote
BearNorth Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Pending tonight's game Bosa is tied with Nick Bonnitto as #1 of 94 qualifying defensive ends in PFF at 91.5 and is the highest graded pass rusher. 4 Quote

Someone alluded to this before, I think in this thread. He has actual fans again. In San Diego/ LA, there just isn't a ton of die hard fans. Bosa went to OSU where the fanbase is as rowdy as Buffalo. I think he's feeling that energy again and to your point.. having fun and enjoying himself. 1 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted September 15 Posted September 15 If nothing else, he’s showing our other DEs what it looks like to rush the passer from the edge. I’m hoping he’s teaching technique to the rest of them. 3 1 Quote

billsfan89 Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Bosa's issue in recent years has never been he's not a good player. Last year Chargers fans said he was very good when he played (which was 12 games) but he was just a notch below his once dominant self and he got hurt. I think the Bills were more than comfortable signing up a very good player at the cost they signed him for and just hoping they could try to keep him healthy or at least get a good chunk of the season out of him. It's only been two games and he's been mostly good, the test is gonna be durability. 2 Quote

Most regarded him as an elite run defender. Just looked up his pff run grades throughout his career. His lowest was his rookie year and it was 79…..which is a great score. And that was his lowest. 1 Quote
dave mcbride Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) 6 hours ago, GunnerBill said: One slight amend.... Von was easily the best pass rushing outside linebacker in football. That is another piece of the puzzle in terms of impact for the Bills v Bosa. Bosa is a much more natural fit for our scheme than Von was. Von made it work that first half year because of his ability but he was never really comfortable as a hand in the dirt defensive end, and post ACL the Bills basically never even asked him to do that and just rushed him from a 2 point stance. Talent-wise and technique-wise, they're both truly elite players. Miller has had the better career, of course, but a lot of that is because Bosa has struggled to stay on the field. Since 2019, he hasn't played a full season, although he did play 16 games in 2021 (so basically full; the Chargers had a dominant D that year too). Until the 2022 season, From 2011 to 2019, Miller--who started in 2011--never missed any games except for the final 7 after he tore his ACL in 2013. And even then, when he came back in 2014, he had a dominating all-pro season. To be fair, he missed the entire 2020 season (ankle). Since coming off of PUP in 2022, he hasn't missed a game except for the suspension. He has played in 32 straight games since coming off of PUP. He generally doesn't get dinged up in season. He's either all in or all out, and in his 15th year, he's been all in for 12 of them (so far). Edited September 15 by dave mcbride Quote
TurfToeJam Posted September 15 Posted September 15 Now that the Bills' schedule is very easy, I'm hoping the bills really put Bosa on a minimal snap count so he (hopefully) stays healthy. He's really been dominant. 1 2 Quote
SoCal Deek Posted September 15 Posted September 15 (edited) Bosa strikes me as the kind of player who feeds off of the motivation of playing meaningful games in front of fans who care. He’ll have that opportunity in Buffalo. Not sure he’s had it in the past. Edited September 15 by SoCal Deek 3 Quote

He was getting accolades for stonewalling tj watt then he got absolutely embarrassed by supposedly washed up Joey bosa lol kinda crazy the whole nfl community gave up on Joey Edited September 15 by Generic_Bills_Fan 1 1 Quote

I like Solomon but he is a role player and shouldn't see an increased snap count. Hoecht would be fantastic to soak up a lot of snaps to keep Bosa healthy but he is suspended. Jackson was drafted for depth and development and he looks like he needs a year to cook so to speak. So the Bills best bet these next few weeks are to control the clock of games to have less overall snaps for the defense and the veteran guys. It worked out super well for the Jets game where the lats quarter most of the vets didn't play. 1 Quote

As long as he's on the field when we need a play I'm good. 1 Quote

I also remember him in the Packers game his first season essentially stopping a key 4th and 1 by shoving the tackle into the RB in the backfield and using him to tackle the RB. Quote

No, we are talking about his time in Buffalo and if you want to go pre injury in Buffalo, I will double down. He couldn't set the edge nearly as effectively as Bosa can. He could win with his quickness at times but he lose gap integrity in the process. Quote

Prior to his injury, as a Bill, Von had the 8th highest pff run grade for edge rushers at 78.2. Against, a very good grade. Throughout his career he’s been a great run defender. You can have the opinion that he wasn’t good vs the run, but that opinion would be wrong. He improved every year defending the run. Quote
