DaQuan Re-Signed - 2 yrs 16M

DaQuan Jones back with the #Bills. Per his agency, 2 years/$16M. $10.5M guaranteed. Seems a solid contract for both sides. And Buffalo keeps a huge part of their defensive line. Really good move.

10.5 guaranteed so that means 5.5 mill in various bonuses.  Not too shabby.  He's a dominant force when he plays.  Just need him to stay healthy.

Vikings signed Sam Darnold. Naturally Jefferson should demand a trade to

Buffalo

if we added 1 void year it’s even better than that cap hit wise

Hmm. Guess it was a bad year to need DL help. We are bringing back the same underperforming group and hoping for the best.

I'm a little perplexed about Beane's strategy these past couple weeks. Cut underperforming overpaid players, then turn around and re-sign a bunch of guys in the same bucket.

I'm sure the real numbers aren't so bad. Hopefully he's healthy and gives us the level of play we got before his injury. I'm not upset about this individual signing. Just confused about what the plan is.

They resigned a couple of the top players on our line. Epenesa was a force this past year that should have gotten all of Miller's snaps. I thought for sure he would've been out of our price range.

I was pretty sure when it happened that Von's unexpected large cap saving move was done to ensure we kept them both. I'm glad they're both staying.

I see it as the plan is only beginning. We only have Oliver and Jones at the Defensive Tackle position, and there will be more additions.

Just wait and see.

Yes, there will be more additions. But they aren't going to be players that are bigger names or cost more than Jones. We didn't hand that money over to him to be rotational depth.

The plan as usual is to use up all the cap on a mediocre roster, be bad at WR other than Diggs and watch Josh Allen perform endless miracles to make the team seem "good" and win a bunch of games but never sniff a Superbowl despite having the best QB ever.

The weapon opposite Diggs will come in the Draft. Would you rather us have spent Round 1 on a Defensive Lineman? I'm sure you wouldn't have liked that either. Like it or not, these positions needed to be filled one way or the other.

Solid deal not a complete steal or anything but they are paying D Jones appropriately and now with the resigning of Jones and AJE the defensive line looks solid.

Likely I suspect the Bills will round out the defensive line rotation by resigning Shaq Lawson to a one year cheap deal and then sign 1 or 2 of the vet DT’s (J Phillips, Settle and or Ford). Then I think the Bills add a pair of draft picks to the mix.

I am thinking the starting lineup looks like the following

Von-D Jones-Oliver-Groot

The the rotation behind them will look like.

At DE - AJE, Shaq Lawson, Kingsley Jonathan and a draft pick.

At DT - Jordan Phillips, Poona Ford or Tim Settle and a draft pick.

Basically running back the same defensive line rotation as last season but swapping out Floyd and one of the vet DT’s with draft picks and hopefully a better version on Von.

I don’t understand this idea that the Bills spending prime draft resources on the offense like they did last year is not addressing offensive needs? The Bills brining back AJE and D Jones on two year deals at a modest rate is bad because hypothetically they could use that money on offense? I would much rather consistently spend the top draft picks on offense and try to cobble together a defense with back end draft picks and moderate free agency dollars.

Don't love it. DQ has been great for us but he is old and coming off an injury. Hopefully there is a cheap out after 1 of those 2 years.

What bringing he and AJE back does do is make sure we are not desperate at DL going into the draft.

I agree. AJ and DQ don't move the improving the team needle.
