They like him just because they hated McDaniels and you get that initial bump with the foundation already in place.  I can't recall an interm head coach with no prior head coaching experience ever being successful when hired permanently.

Really!?! You can't honestly believe that? I couldn't disagree more with you here simply because (with all due respect) it's wildly nonsense mixed with sprinkled in silliness.

Absolutely nothing at all to do with McDaniel. They like him because he's shown that whole roster he is the leader they were missing and took advantage of an opportunity proving he can be a HC in this league and it couldn't be more crystal clear.

Regarding the rest of your post, I'm not sure about interim HC's stats when hired permanently off top of my head, but since you mention, it makes me have a small interest enough I will look it up. However, doesn't mean a lot either way, just because you can't recall doesn't mean it can't happen, or has happened.

It's been done with coaches without any head coaching experience.  Frazier with the Vikings.  Cable with the Raiders.  Singletary with the 49ers.  All those teams played better initially but all three would be considered failures once they got the permanent gig.

I speculate that Vrabel becoming available will accelerate Kraft's decision regarding BB.

If Kraft was on the fence, he needs to make up his mind quickly. Vrabel is the best candidate available and should prefer a Pats job due to his history

Yeah, the college system can't produce enough quality QBs and HCs. I'd say there's enough talent for a 28 team league.

People, like Goodell, talking expansion are nuts.

They're not nuts, they're just greedy.

So those 3 is enough names for you to conclude it can't happen?

Does anybody NOT believe that Vrabel ends up with the Patriots?????

I'm not convinced the get rid of Bill.  Kraft is a very cheap owner, and he just signed an extension.  They were competitive at end of year.

For values of "competitive" equal to "lose 17-3 to the Jets"?

I certainly won't be surprised if he ends up in New England, but based on the breakdown in Tennessee where Vrabel wanted to go win now while ownership ultimately decided to rebuild long-term, I'm not sure New England is a good fit either. Obviously plenty of connections there though.

Kinda think Vrabel has his eye on the Chargers or Falcons jobs.

I don't. I think it's lazy analysis by fans/media. I mean I wouldn't be surprised if he did wind up in NE, but the QB situation there isn't ideal.

Not ideal … but a No 3 pick in their back pocket helps
