Tough to say.  He was backing Dorsey far more than he backed Peterman despite having become all but a nation-wide laughing stock back then.

McD's very stubborn.  It's difficult to not strongly consider that he got a call from Pegula to get this thing under control in the media.  ... which would seem to be Pegula's top concern.

At the same time, those that seem to think that McD's toast after the season, and hoping so, may be disappointed.

Honestly, the fans/media.

McDermott has been fielding questions from Tim Graham and others since the week after Miami about Dorsey and if he would lose playcalling duties. This stoked the fans fire and with the offense struggling, the drum beat grew louder. It finally came to a head yesterday.

And it's almost hysterical how many fans are. Almost everyone wanted to see Dorsey fired. Then when he gets fired a certain percentage turn it into "he fired him as a scape goat and to save his own arse".

Fans would fire someone after every loss if they could.

Agreed. Totally reactionary. This place would fire or cut someone every week.

On the question, it is a good one. We know that the Pegulas were integral in the last OC change we made in-season when they fired Greg Roman two weeks into 2016 - after he had taken the offense from 26th to 13th in his one year in charge. They met with players and then Rex and the upshot was Roman was out.

I don't rule out that Terry involved himself again but I suspect ultimately McDermott with counsel from Beane is the right answer.

McDermott has no reason to lie about this. He clearly made the decision himself. Needed an immediate distraction from the 12 men on the field coaching mistake, after two time outs were taken that could have been used to make sure things were organized for the obvious play.

I actually think it stems from last year in the divisional round.

Diggs storming out then and the stuff that happened at the beginning of the year makes me think the players didn't believe in the offensive game plan.

Josh looking lost on the sideline.

The players have no confidence and that's a reflection of coaching.  Then they run the same mesh play over and over again that has been resulted in probably half of Allen's INTs when all they needed to do was run the ball.

Also having a players only meeting for the offense doesn't show a lot of faith in what they are being told to do.

But Marv Levy said "if you start listening to the fans soon you'll be sitting among them."

I think it was all McClappy, trying to save his own behind.

Not a great move by McD (to save his a$$), he let the sacrificial lamb go too early.  There’s a high likelihood we may not win a game here on out.  Who does he blame / fire @ year end… Brady?

McD is done or should be, barring some miracle over the next 7.
