Any Howard Stern fans?

Last night I was watching when Crazzie Cabbie fought Stuttering John from 2002 in Atlantic City.  The whole thing was a laugh riot.  Bettlejuice as well coming out in the ring with Don King.

I was never a big fan but I would listen to him occasionally in the Artie Lange days and knew all the players and wack packers on his show.

But since he went to satellite radio, became pretty pc, and seems like more of an entertainment reporter today I lost interest.

How about you?

i listen depending who is on.  if the interview is someone interesting, i'll keep it on.  after the pandemic and everyone left the studio, it completely lacked something.  it's really a podcast at this point.  i did have howard 101 on recently, (i never listen to it) and they had a segment where sam kinison and jessica hahn were having a throw down argument.  it was amazing radio.

Was.  Gets by on reputation of what he once was.

IMO, got politically correct and lazy with the big money and second marriage.

1990s Howard Stern would have probably been doing man on the street interviews in NYC in 2020 instead of being holed up in a basement for nearly three years.   He would have paraded pornstars in Times Square only wearing surgical masks.

yep.

listened daily from like 99-2017 or '18. he just got too political, too lazy, did not have the same fun. his tirades became old angy man yells at cloud Imus style nonsense.

he has literally become what he railed against for years. he's proven to be a hypocrite.

Always loved Howard.

When I was younger, I'd watch the half four televised version of his show on the E! network and loved it.

Then, as the years went on, he left behind the "let's throw hot dogs at lesbians in a kitty pool" schtick and became a first rate interviewer. Some of his interviews over the past decade or so have been really phenomenal, with him mining nuggets of information from musicians and actors that no one else could get.

That said, it's been some years since I've listened.

I didn't enjoy the skits having a brother throw hotdogs at his naked sister while she sang karaoke and he had to beat get slapped by Gary the ######... Or whatever most of that stuff was.

It was funny to listen to on the radio sometimes - because it was genuinely funny on the radio. And stern was a genius to pull off a visual skit on the radio.

The best moments where when he would just comment on the world, discuss nonsense with his staff. Richards dad, or robins weekend spending $10,000 on an enema and wine, or any such nonsense.

Then he started to just ease up on it. The criticism of the insanely out of touch Hollywood lifestyle was off limits, no more mocking the general public, and after a while it was all targeted to a large chunk of his audience that enjoyed his blue collar humor. He lost touch with his roots just like NASCAR.

During his prime it was amazing.

I listen to radio classics and old radio shows while working a lot. Been meaning to go get Howard 101 for some old shows for a while. Maybe I'll start soon

He is a great interviewer, I'll give him that. I will still watch clips on YT when he's talking to someone like Macca.

That's it though, he started becoming devoid of any real laughs years ago, and I stopped listening.

Maybe he got funny again since I bailed, but all indications to me are that he hasn't.

I can understand people change and evolve as they get older.  But he really did a 180 to make me sorta go what a fake with certain things.....

Like for example for years he would obsess and beat up Rosie O'Donnell on his show where I thought he would go over the line sometimes.  And now they are like best friends.

He spent like 30 years beating up and hating on Kathie Lee Gifford and now he says this is because she is everything he isn't.  Pathetic

Was a diehard listener before he went to satellite. Nothing could compare or was as funny on radio up to that point, imo. Felt he lost his edge and the show was not the same when the shackles came off. I never paid him no mind afterwards.

I LOVED to hear from Crazy Alice and that guy Elliot Offen. They would have me in tears laughing. The prank calls were also freaking great.  Now, the show is nothing more than a PC ball washing session for celebrities. In fact, I dropped Howard from my Sirius account and saved about 60 dollars per year. I find him to be unlistenable.

Of course, jmo.

I worked in media for over four decades, and my first assignment when I worked for the former TCI cable was to go to club ChitChat on Clinton and shoot interviews and performances with ladies auditioning to be Ms.  HowRd Stern on his NYE PPV special … nirvana for a young lad in the biz 😂

I know he got insanely rich going to Sirius, but he pretty much ceased existing to me since I don't subscribe.

What was the standard canned response here for years whenever a Stern thread came up?

"Howard Stern hasn't been funny for years, and I no longer listen to him"

I finally got to that point myself around 2019 and dropped Sirius.

A few friends of mine finally bailed during covid when he hid in his basement doing the "show"

Howard Stern has hosted many great musical guests on his program. 2 immediately memorable performsnces for me were Don Henley "Desperado " and the Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine performing "Purple Rain" in studio

I was never a fan of his comedic schtick but he was very popular to many absolutely.
