Interesting about Dodson.

Indeed, interesting if the 3-legged race is sliding to 2 legs.

I still think AJ Klein is in the mix, they just are confident in what he can and can't do and want to look at the younger players.

So far it seems to be a pattern that Torrence is with the 1s for the initial, pre-stretching warm up segment that's half-speed or something like that

Then Bates takes over with the 1's after the calisthenics/stretching, but sometimes Torrence mixes back in.

Will be interesting to see if Morse takes over at C again today or sits out.

Chris Brown coverage of pre-practice Butler interview:

More Butler interview:

Basically, I think what that translates to is saying Elam does not (yet) excel as an off-ball CB in the zone defense the Bills primarily rely on.

That ain't a good sign for a 1st round pick.

Whereas he's saying Benford really gets it when it comes to playing zone.

Anyone else see it differently?

It could change, but so far it seems as though a bunch of the stalwart guys for real-time updates aren't at practice today.

While that's understandable (tickets are scarce and maybe they gotta work for a living sometime), it means updates may be slim.

I can still post everyone else's twitter updates from work so I'll try to keep up 👍

That seems about right. I know that the money matters, but If you hit on a 6th round corner then that makes missing on a first-round one a little bit easier to accept.

I know it's been maybe even slightly belabored, but what if Torrence is just so nasty and strong it is going to be his job and Bates is backup #1 for any of the spots across the oline?

The consensus from most reporters before camp even started was they didn't expect Torrence to win the job.  Many of those same people are saying he's basically taking it by force.

I didn't listen to the interview, but from the clips here, that's exactly what it sounds like.  And exactly what a lot of fans have been saying for a year.  Elam is a natural cover corner, and Benford really gets the coverage schemes that McD's pass defense thrives on.  I've always thought that's why McDermott didn't keep Gilmore.

And as lots of people have been saying, it's up to Elam.  If he internalizes the schemes, he'll be the starter, because Benford simply can't "learn" some of the physical skills that come naturally to Elam.

Also, I don't see how a platoon system works with corner back.  When you platoon running backs, you're always sending some signals about what you might do, because the running backs have different skills.   That's okay, however, because offense is all about putting a combination of threats on the field.   DBs seem different to me - putting a different DBs in the game signal your weaknesses, not your strengths.  Benford's in, if the offense puts a #1 receiver out there, the offense knows the defense is in zone or double coverage, because the Bills won't leave him out there alone.   Elam's in, and the offense knows he's the soft spot in the zone.   Jackson gives you the best disguise.

What the Bills really need, really need, is for Elam to step up.   If he can win the job (if he can get good enough playing the schemes), then the Bills have the best option out there, and Benford gets freed up for a possible move to safety, maybe as early as next year.

If anyone cares...

I care, and am also interested to know if it's Bates or Morse in at Center, because if the DL is pushing the OL back into Allen today but that didn't happen previously, it would be good if there are other OLmen on the roster who are capable of anchoring

These Allen “injury” updates are “click bait.” If he spilled water down his chest and wiped it off with his hand, these guys would yam about a possible chest contusion.

Considering the fact that there is no season without Allen, I wanna know if he has a hangnail.

Ah yes, clickbait from Twitter accounts with 10k followers for the handful of us watching to the minute updates from a Tuesday morning training camp. Makes total sense! I'm sure this "clickbait" is driving a ton of ad revenue...
