Tom Sestak, the "Hit". I'm having trouble remembering the running backs name.

Robert James and Bobby Chandler, the two nicest and coolest players who truly appreciated us ball boys up at Niagara back in the day.

Todd Schlopy made 2 out of 5 FG attempts to win a scab game against the NYG (with Lawrence Taylor crossing the picket line) 6-3 in 1987.

It was the worst football game I’ve ever witnessed in person.

I still have that game on VHS tape, but I'd have to go to my basement & hook up the dusty VCR to the 1986 TV, which is also down there collecting dust, in order to watch it.

Jeff Nixon, an excellent big play safety until injuries derailed his career.

After an interception on opening day 1980, they put "Nixon for President" on the scoreboard.

Wow.

My player is Roger Kochman. Sensational rookie running back in 1963, until he absolutely tore up his knee.

I couldn't remember if I'd posted about Kochman in this thread, so I searched for him. I haven't. Search yourself, and look at all the threads that 's Kochman's been mentioned in.  Threads about obscure players, threads about really ugly injuries, threads about one-year wonders, all kinds of threads where Kochman turns up.

I remember him because I met him a few months after his injury.  He was dating the sister of a friend of mine, and I was visiting my friend while Kochman was hanging with his girlfriend.  His knee was all wrapped in gauze.  He kept it elevated.  He said if he kept his foot on the floor, after a while his knee would start bleeding!

In those days, if you had major knee surgery, your career almost certainly was over. Kochman already knew he was done.

Jerry Crafts.  Some of you remember way back when (92'-95), I knew Jerry as he grew up in Tulsa, and his mom and stepdad were still here.  In 93/94, I drove up to Buffalo with my Wife, and Jerry got me in the locker room on Saturday each time.  I still have a game ball signed in Silver Sharpie from almost every member of the 1993 team, which was the last to play in a Super Bowl to date.

He was solid, tried to do a good job, but his weight held him back, that and a bad divorce from his wife toward the end of his time here.  Good guy overall.

The Condo!  Nicknamed as such because he was even bigger than 'House' Ballard.  IIRC, we played a very early overseas game - in Germany maybe?  And at some pre-game PR event, the locals requested not the biggest stars, but the biggest players.  We sent House and Condo.
