They’re big and heavy and will require a large crane that can reach over the now-poured plaza concrete without crushing it….but they’ve got it all coordinated. That kinda spoils my plan to get drunk and steal one for my lawn. Quote

Nobody wants them completed covered in ketchup and mustard. The cleaning bill will be ridiculous. Imagine kayo. 🤢 Friend of mine sculpted & installed the Jonathan the Husky statue on campus in the mid-‘90s and it’s just iconic. I used to rub / pat its nose before every exam for good luck (I graduated summa, so…), and it appears that others do as well. Larry has been called a few times over the years when there’s graffiti and whatnot. Once, when someone took a polish of some kind and buffed Jonathan’s male anatomy so it was gleaming and he had to try to re-patina it. Part of any statue, just like architecture, is how people are going to interact with it. Some kids ride on the back during grad pictures. Last year, GQ did a photo shoot of Paige Bueckers for their cover and feature story and he was thrilled when someone sent him the picture. All it needed for perfection 🤌 would be for her to be smoking a cig while in this pose. Of course, at 16 feet for the tallest bison sculpture, posing would be less intimate. I’m not sure / haven’t heard if they’re going to try to cordon off the area so people can’t go right up and touch it / them. Which would be kinda sad. Edited September 1 by UConn James 1 Quote

PromoTheRobot Posted September 2 Posted September 2 Populous Presents Buffalo Bills’ New NFL Stadium Design in Orchard Park, New York https://share.google/d5KwKusFxeXIhLkXo The article mentions there is room to expand capacity from 60,000. This is the first I've heard of this, unless they are referring to standing room. 1 Quote

This is the first I've heard of this, unless they are referring to standing room. That is interesting - I've wondered about that if they had done any engineering to account for it, first I've seen it mentioned also. Would be cool if true. I have to kind of laugh at language like "Conceptually, the design centers around strength and resilience, adopting Buffalo’s historic architecture and transforming it into a robust and bold form" - I've seen that language about adopting Buffalo's architecture in other PR videos/articles, when in terms of general design it was basically lifted from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and I've wondered what architectural elements they are actually talking about. There is something later that says "The lower exterior, crafted with iron-spot brick, connects with the city’s architectural past and provides a solid base from which the modern form rises" so I guess that's something. Still think they should have incorporated Labbatt Blue silos There is another note "The key goal of the new stadium was to make it a multipurpose venue, the gathering plaza, the Family Circle north entrance, and areas where the Buffalo Bills host games and communities celebrate festivals and events, and to ensure the stadium becomes a focal point for visitors from across the country, symbolizing unity and belonging". I've wondered if they might open it up to weddings in the offseason - think that would prob sell out Edited September 2 by stevewin Quote

Scott7975 Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Was gonna post yesterdays video but someone beat me to it 😃 It's coming along nicely. I was one hoping for a dome but it's whatever. If I was still working I could afford to go but SSDI has me broke. I hope someday I can afford to go to one game just for the experience. It's hard for me to sit for a game like that anyhow but I have to experience the stadium at least once. Quote
