Great point about how far into winter the schedule goes nowadays vs. the 70s when the season always ended before Christmas. If anything, the NFL should start the season earlier, but the broadcast networks won’t allow that as it would compete with the start of college football for ratings. The original plan was for brick facades like Fenway Park. Very nice. But when costs went up we got corrugated metal siding instead. Still a very nice ball park. I think it's a better design than Sahlen Field, with open concourses that allow you to see the game while at concessions. But corrugated metal siding is not brick. Fair enough, but I'm wondering what exactly you were expecting. Is it not better than the 'recently' constructed open air stadiums in the surrounding NE area of the country (Chicago, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Cincinnati, New York, New England, Philadelphia....to name more than a few)? I think this is pretty much the reason why we don’t have any fly-through or detailed renderings of the interior like we’ve seen with other stadium projects. Chicago's stadium is 101 years old and last underwent refurbishment in 2003. Steelers stadium is 23 years old. Browns stadium is 25 years old. Bengals stadium is 24 years old. Patriots stadium is 22 years old. Eagles stadium is 21 years old. I mentioned before that I see this brand new stadium akin to the stadiums that were built 20-25 years ago. Which isn't ideal for a brand new stadium. Off topic, but Sahlen Field/Pilot Field is vastly overrated at this point. It was ground-breaking in 1988. However, it is not a good design with today's standards. It needs to be about 5-6K seats smaller, needs to have open concourses and a better standing/socialization scene. It also has a terrible backdrop. The concourses are like a concrete tomb. If you are there with a large crowd on a hot day, the concession lines clog up the concourse every 40 feet or so, and it is about 25 degrees hotter in there than anywhere else. The sitelines are also gunked up there as you go down foul territory. The seats face the outfield much more than current designs and in the case of a full/large crowd, you need to look across a lot of people sideways to see the infield. All the newer AAA and AA ballparks have passed it by. The Jays' renovations during covid put a decent coat of paint on the insides, and improved the lighting, but without that, the ballpark would be in much worse decay. People locally still talk about it like it is the Minor League's crown jewel. Build around it, put a dome or a retractable roof and you can have tons of events in there. This is Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Capacity 6500 but can hold 9000 with standing room. There's the Sam Adams Club in left field where you can have dinner while watching the game.
