A staple of my high school experience was 10 cent wing night. Anybody up there still do that? Heck, I'd settle for 50 cent wing night at this point.

Definitely no $.10 wing nights

A case of 40 pound wings from restaurant Depot probably comes to $.15 a wing

If you go to the bisons games I’m pretty sure they still do 50 Cent wings up top

The wing game is stupid

That's 80s prices. Used to go to a bar, get a pitcher ($3.00) and double order of wings ($2.00). Spend $5.00 for the night.

$1.00 and $0.75 are about the best you'll see these days in terms of specials. Possible there is somewhere still doing $0.50, but I'm not away of it.

Pre-pandemic Tailgaters (which is now Prohibition 2020 - great place by the way) was doing 10 cents on Tuesday, the only stipulation was you had to order 2 drinks for every 20 wings. I mean, I'm doing that anyway, so for your average wing night patron, it was an absolute steal.

I haven't seen any bar in WNY run the 10 cent wing special in well over a decade.  Just like Blockbuster that's just not something we're ever going to see again in our lifetime.

We have to account for “wingflation”.  I can’t get a gallon of gas for $0.25 either. 🤷‍♂️

But for a while there it seemed like we had “super wingflation”. Like the Mortimer and Randolph had cornered the chicken wing market!

Blockbuster was the boneless wing of video stores.

No "Faces of Death" or campy porn section that the pervy milf at the counter would let you rent from when she knew you were 14 (like a woman from an @\GoBillsInDallas/ thread).

And soon as the age appropriate girls at the counter put on a Blockbuster shirt they were instantly 99% less likely to make bad decisions with their fellow teenage customers.

Blockbuster sucked.   Bad.

We used to go to Duffs on Sheridan for “wings”……..a/k/a pitchers of beer. I was 15-16, and one of us might have been 18. My,my, very different times.

I don’t remember if I could eat volumes of wings then. I remember they brought buckets, but I don’t know if I could pound them the way the others did. I’m good with 3-5 wings, tops. I was having lunch with a buddy at a pizza joint. He wanted some wings too, so I thought the small order of 6 was good, with a couple for me and the rest for him. He said they were good as leftovers (as a friend, I corrected him) and ordered 20 wings. I ate my two and he ate the rest. AND his pizza. I could not do that on a bet.

EDIT: How many wings can you people eat? I don’t need a special.  I think I got old!

No that wasn't an issue........our parents were baby boomers they didn't care about what we watched and like I said, the pervy milf or HS girls working there let us rent whatever we wanted.

We had two independent movie rental places growing up and going to the store itself was fun.    One of the owners had a son who was a friend of mine and their connection thru owning a bunch of stores and being a top 100 retailer helped him get into film school at Bucknell.   He became a producer of tv shows and low budget movies and married a B-movie/Maxim girl who we had watched working on MTV growing up.

I didn't run into Blockbuster until I went to college.   They corporatized a previously fun process.  Yeah they had more copies of new releases.   But good riddance.  Movie renting process to me was mostly an excuse to be alone with your GF instead of taking her someplace.........like Netflix and chill.    Sometimes it worked better if the movie wasn't very good.

Isn't this what we wanted?

In my younger days, I could eat a double order (24) and wash it down with a pitcher of beer.

These days, I make my own (grill or air fry), and the wings we get from the store are pretty meaty, so I'm good with about six. And just one 12oz beer.

I’m glad it’s not just me!

Maybe it’s odd, but I don’t love the “jumbo” wings. My favorite wings ever were from some place on Transit in a little house on the east side of the road around East Amherst. Rosie’s?  AWESOME! (It’s possible that is influenced by my youth and state of mind.)  Wings should be a certain size. There IS such a thing as too big.

Well, back in the day, the game with a table of friends was whoever ate the most didn't have to pay their share of the bill.  I could put down 50 pretty easily which was usually enough to win so I didn't have to go much past that very often.  These days? If I ate 50 wings my colon would turn inside out before I got home and I'd have heartburn for 2 days.  I'm pretty sure I could still do 2 dozen with the associated accompanying beverages though I haven't tried in a long time.

This is what I'm looking for. I know 10 cents doesn't exist. Just someone doing a reasonable special.

Did the owner of the bar create that game?  😋

Wings cannot be “over-sized”, nor flabby. Period.

Danny's South right by the stadium has $.10 wings on Monday nights but you have to order 2 drinks. Funny, blue cheese is $1.00 extra -- the price of 10 wings. I believe during the week Tue/Wed/Thu they are $.30 which is still an amazing deal nowadays.

Been laying off wings for over a year, in a large part because of a stomach “affliction”.

Finally broke down and took the risk and ordered a single order Sat.

I stopped after 5 wings. Which was 3 too many.

Last year there was the largest outbreak of avian flu in U.S. history. 58 million chickens were killed to try to stop the spread.

Agreed. The ones I get are a little bigger than the ideal size, but they're a great price and they still turn out good.

I was in the Atomic XXX Hot Wing eating contest at last year's Wingfest at the stadium. I ate 14 wings in 7 minutes. 7 minutes was because the winner finished his pan of 25 wings in those 7 minutes.

And just for comparison's sake, the winner of the National wing eating contest ate 250 wings in 12 minutes. Joey Chestnut came in 2nd with like 235 wings in those same 12 minutes.

That's about 21 wings/minute, less than 3 seconds per wing. Using the strip method, you'd have to insert, strip, and swallow without chewing while reaching for the next wing.

I'll bet his gastroenterologist has a really nice boat. And someday, his cardiologist will too.

Casey's in Brockport had 50 wings for $5.00 on Monday nights, circa 1984.  Also had $5.00 pitchers of Genny on Monday nights.

We knew the cook and he told us when we ordered, tell the waiter we wanted "sliced celery."  He knew that was us, and he'd pile on another 15-20 wings atop the 50.

Costco 10 pound bag cost approx $ 24.00. They are large meaty and delicious in my air fryer.

I dont buy in bars or restaurants what I can make easily and in my opinion better than theirs at home

I'm cheap. No way am I paying  those high retail prices .

Korean fried chicken wings are a thing here in socal. Is that true for WNY? I have no idea.

if i'm not mistaken, i heard that wings are now back down to pre-pandemic prices.  we won't see the changes on the menu, but wings themselves shouldn't be nearly as pricey as they are.

in terms of volume, i'm a 10-12 wing guy.  i just don't need anymore.  as i get older, i've learned my limits.
