Taylor Rapp Signing with Bills

Recommended Posts

Rapp is an urgent safety with positional versatility and on-the-ball production. He should draw interest from clubs that can deploy him in multiple sub-package roles. Rapp can play in the post or split-field, or he can align as an overhang defender in dime. There's disruptive ability here. He produced nine interceptions and 24 pass breakups in his four seasons with the Rams.

Have to wonder if Rapp saw the Safety market is a disaster this year, sees what the Bills did with Poyer, and decided to see if he can earn a multi-year contract here for the future by joining the Bills for a year.  At least, that's my thought process.   Rapp seemed like an ok starter option in free agency.

Anyone that gets cut from the Rams should be taken with a grain of salt. They're in cap hell and in way over their heads from a personnel perspective.

He Wasn't Cut.  He was a FA.  He played 4 seasons with the Rams, and they didn't re-sign him, or, he didn't like the contract they offered or didn't want to stay on a re-building team.

Bye Dean Marlowe....loved you man.....

He might be back if Hamlin doesnt come back. Or even if he does. Behind our starters it's just... Rapp, and maybe Benford?

this article from a Rams site says he's so bad they don't understand how he even see's the field

• Taylor Rapp gets his own bullet point here because he had his worst game in recent memory. I just don’t understand how he still sees the field as often as he does when any average fan with two working eyes can see how confused and out of place he seems to be every snap. Good riddance come next season.

Ironically he was also visiting your favorite team the Patriots bit of sour grapes here?

Or getting through the entire season with 2 over 30, banged up Safeties.

No big moves yet, but I have to admit.. Beane is upgrading everywhere on the roster:

LG

WR4

WR5

RB2

IOL depth

S depth

Teams often times try to force players into their system that are not good scheme fits thinking they can teach them or the player can adjust to what they want them to do. Sometimes it works other times it doesn't.

How he played in a different scheme doesn't mean much as we don't know what they asked him to do.

It only matters how he fits and plays in our scheme, not anyone else's. We will find that out soon enough.

And Poyer couldnt even break into the starting lineup of a 4-12 Browns his entire 4 years with the crappy team.

Players develop. Change of scenery and scheme could help.

Just sayin.

Ya they probably see him as a scheme fit. Replacing Jaquan Johnson. With Hyde n Poyer being banged up last year, Hamlin being a question mark, why not get that depth.
