Maybe he is still "undecided" behind the scenes, OR the Jets have asked for a 2 year commitment and he is still pondering that, which is holding things up. At this point it shouldn't be that hard. If the trade happens AFTER the 2023 draft then one would imagine the Jets picks would be lower in each round. Best thing for both sides is a straight up trade: picks for player. Cash and carry. Done. Rodgers won’t play another down for the Packers. He isn’t part of their future under any circumstance. Why not try to get everything you want from the Jets? The Jets and Rodgers have told the entire planet that Aaron Rodgers will be a Jet long before a deal was done. Those are the two parties who look foolish if nothing happens. As quirky as he is, Rodgers is a top 3-5 QB in the NFL still, especially when he has actual WR to throw to. On that Jets team he would be dangerous. You figure the 2024 1st would be in the high 20's, low 30's if you're the Jets. That's less of a big deal, and not that far away from their 2023 2nd rounder. If healthy, Rodgers gets you deep into the playoffs for 2 years and makes the Jets a marquee attraction. One high 2nd and a low future first is not a huge price tag for that. I would say if it got them to the superbowl it would have been worth it. If all they are is a playoff team that doesnt get there then no. Obviously you can't know this ahead of time but not winning it all with that kind of move just sets the team back even longer. I would rather set my team back continually trying in the draft to get the guy. At least if you get that guy you have them for a long time to keep making that attempt. Feel he has done a solid job outside of the miss at QB but the good thing is, they are not hitching themselves to Wilson like the Patriots are doing with Mac. They've built a nice roster. If the Jets keep bulldiddin’ when draft day rolls around some team might decide Rodgers for a year or two is worth a trade.
