Given PR duties and in a hybrid WR/RB role can definitely see him getting 12-15 touches a game In the 202o playoff game at Highmark Hines had 6 carries for 75 yds and 1 reception for 8 yds. In 2021 laugher over the Bills at Highmark he had 4 carries for 31 yards. Basic math yields 11 touches for 114 yards or over 10 yards per touch. I can see how these numbers caught Beane's attention. I'm not saying that he'll be great in Buffalo, but he stands a much better chance with Josh Allen and Ken Dorsey than he did with a power running team like the Colts. We'll never know the exact timeline of events but I suspect Beane reach out on Monday to see if the Colts were selling offering the 6th for Hines and was rebuffed as being too low. It had been leaked there were a couple of teams looking into Nyheim's availability and then changed to he was getting moved by Tuesday Moring. I interpreted that as Nyheim figured out who was offering picks for him and decided he wanted out preferring going to Buffalo. I am sure the Colts tried for a better pick and Beane wouldn't do a 4th or something thus he thought the deal was dead with Hines going to a different team. Hines may have told the FO he wanted to go to Buffalo around 3PM and Beane made it a conditional 5th to show a bit of attrition and get a player that fits the offense/clubhouse perfectly. Singletary sees an average of 14 "touches" (carries + targets) a game, and 47 snaps a game. That means on a lot of the remaining 33 snaps he's pass protecting in the backfield or at least chipping. Singletary is too slow and can't run outside. It's no coincidence that the first TD scored scored from the RB group was from Cook who hardly ever plays 5 games into the season. 34-78-83 Posted November 2, 2022 Share Posted November 2, 2022 (edited) For those that think Hines has anything to do with Cook, it doesn't. Cook is just getting started after his slow start. It's clear ON THE FIELD that the coaches are trusting him more and more (he was in on a whole 4th quarter drive with the lead shrinking away due to those foolish couple throws by Josh). And Cook is showing good signs now of his value in our scheme. Side note ... Ain't nothing do to with Singletary either. He's doing exactly what they need him to out there. I also know that he's the type of guy that I'll love rooting for.
