These guys are playing Asbury Hall in Buffalo July 2. Black Midi.

visually stunning and the lyric is for me compelling . Great morning song. Hot times upcoming in BFLO city. 💃

I like it but the complexity is given me  a szuzh.....that means brainfog a bit confusing. Live show YES I would attend this. I do not know Asbury Hall though.

Believe it or not the Residents have been around for over 50 years. Wikipedia will tell you their fascinatingly bizarre story.

They did a lunchtime set for Philadelphia radio station WXPN not long ago. Here's a link.

As for Asbury Hall, it's part of Babeville, a former church on Delaware Ave. saved from demolition by Buffalo-born singer Ani DiFranco.

Many years ago the band my son was touring with played this venue. My memory tells me that it has 2 separate areas. One bigger and one smaller.  Cults and Guards played the smaller. I do know Ani DiFranco.  I appreciate the links Gracias!

YEP.The smaller venue is called the 9th ward. I was there only once but we had a great time. Wing boxes galore back stage lol. Even the vegetarian drummer decided he had to eat at least one. hahahaaa

Peter Frampton is going to be in Fallsview Casino on July 29.  A lot of tix left.

Just saw Chicago last night.  Technically, they are really great musicians.  Horn line is smokin’! Drummer is dang good.  Original singer, Robert Lamm still has a great voice but isn’t in the show much, kinda stands in back and plays keyboards. The songs he sings though he does a fantastic job.

My biggest complaints? The lead guitarist is good, but outplays the music. Chicago music isn’t about thrashing solos.  Lastly, the lead singer is decent, can hit the Peter Cetera notes well enough, but doesn’t have the vocal range when singing subtly.  He lives more in the higher pitch.

A really good show, but honestly wouldn’t see them again.  Glad I had the chance to see them finally.

Glad to see Lamm is back!

As far as the guitar goes, I get what you’re saying m, but in fairness, in 25 or 6 to 4, the guitarist solos through 90% of the song, lol.

Glad you got to scratch one off of your bucket list!

A lot of good guitar work through the years for sure.  I guess I shouldn’t expect to hear albums perfect solos.  Problem was the guy was a bit too much at time.

TBH, the acoustics at Turningstone are terrible.  Could be we sat to the left of rhe stage, about 1/2 way down. Not sure.

Just got back from Billy Idol at Fallsview Casino on the newer stage.

All I can say is wow!  Such a great venue and acoustics/sound system is top notch.

Billy was absolutely fantastic!  Still has a great voice and tons of energy.  Not running around but very active.  Still hits the higher notes, voice is still great.  Steve Stevens his guitarist..I guess I never really paid him much attention to him in the day, but holy shnickes the dude can freaking play!  Amazing guitar work and was impeccable.

The opening act of Kelsey Karter was limited to her signing and her bassist playing lead guitar, and that is all they had.  Remainder of band couldn’t get over the border.  All I can say is she has an amazing voice!  Did Joplins Mercedes Benz and absolutely slayed it.  Then did Hearts “Alone” with Steven’s on guitar which was simply amazing.

Fantastic show.  If y’all get a chance to see him, do so.  At the very least, check his shows out on YouTube.  I hope Karters “Alone” with Steven’s ends up on YouTube also.

Only drawback is they allowed standing in front of the stage a few people deep which caused the ripple effect of everyone standing in their seats.  Kinda hate that.

I saw Billy a few years back at Riot Fest. Very good live.  I was never a big fan back in the 80s but always loved Steve Stevens and Billy is great in the Wedding Singer,  haha.

I was a huge Billy Idol fan throughout middle and high school in the 80s.

Got to see him in ‘87 with the Cult opening for him. Dream show for me and it was amazing.

Glad to see that he’s still rockin’ and LOVE that Steve Stevens is still with him!!

I dont expect this to be many folks cup of tea here, but Run the Jewels is doing a 10th anniversary "tour". Playing 4 nights in a row in each of NY, Chicago, Atlanta, and LA. Each night playing 1 of their 4 albums.

I got tickets for the 1st and 4th Atlanta shows! Already sold out!

In October, Ringo Starr and his All Star band here in WV.

My grandson loves the Beatles, so this will be a treat for him.

I am an avid Beatles fan. Always. Even a Macca guy and I was lucky enough to see him close to a decade ago.

I love Ringo the Beatle, but I’ve never been able to embrace his solo stuff.

I know that his ASB experience is much more than just his music. I would love to see him, primarily to be able to say I’ve seen two Beatles.

But with ticket prices these days, it’s still a hard sell for me.

Either way, I love that your grandson is going to see Ringo and I’m sure it will be a memory to enjoy for a lifetime!!

I'm a guitar player and admittedly a big music snob. My opinions usually offend people, so I apologize in advance.

Weezer at CMAC. Pat Metheney at the Rochester Jazz Fest. Tears for Fears at CMAC. Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra probably at CMAC. That's it so far. I want to catch Death Cab for Cutie somewhere. So much damn country music (god I hate modern country, but respect the musicians) around these days the bands I actually like aren't coming around locally as much.

Love Chicago, hate peter cetera. Regarding the guitar, Terry Kath was unreal. He actually had some amazing solos, so I kinda disagree with the whole guitar solo thing. After Kath died the guitar solos kinda subsided. Being a guitar player myself, I LOVE guitar based music with horns. The later Chicago stuff when Cetera started doing those stupid ballads can go to hell, as far as I'm concerned. Give me old-school Chicago!

Terry Kath was an unreal guitar player. Jimi Hendrix though he was the best player around. Love Chicago with Kath.

We  saw Chicago a few years ago and the main part of the concert was to play Chicago  II  straight thru.

a short break and then several other songs as the encore.

It was a fun concert.

Jon Anderson and the Band of Geeks brought the house down at the Riviera last night. Standing O's after every song. Even at 78 the guy can still hit the high notes.

We used to call it Owner of a loaded tart... that album marked the end of true Yes music. Sometimes its best to just stop like the Beatles did.

Because it’s a crappy pop song.

But I get it … just like I knew it was inevitable that the Police would play Every Breath You Take, which I consider to be the worst (hands down) Police song ever recorded.

These guys know there are more casual fans than fans who know/understand a band’s entire catalog of music. So I do understand why they play those songs live.

But I don’t have to like it.  😂

I think we're past the point in the timeline that anyone going to see the tattered remains of Yes is a "casual fan."

I saw them at RPI in ‘87 (Rabin-era). I was never a huge Yes fan, but I did prefer classic Yes over this iteration of the band.

I just checked the set list - https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/yes/1987/rpi-fieldhouse-troy-ny-13df1ddd.html - and at least I didn’t have to endure Love Will Find a Way or the Rhythm of Love (both set list regulars during that tour)!

Anderson himself remarked how gratified he was to see a packed house to listen to songs that were 50+ years old. I think he played "Owner" because it was short! 😂 Every other song they played last night clocked in at 10 minutes +.

@LeviF As for "tattered remains," Anderson is who you want to see at this point, not Steve Howe pretending to be Yes. That band that Anderson had was tight.

I couldn't imagine seeing Yes without Anderson... it would be like seeing Jethro Tull without Anderson. I saw Yes for the 90130 tour or whatever it is... and I honestly don't remember anything about it, those were "those" daze. Just wish they would kiss and make up for one last go... with Wakeman too.

Bigger problem is Chris Squire passed a few years ago. They roll Allen White out for a couple songs at the end of the show and the guy that's been singing for few years, Jon Davison tries but just doesn't do it for me.

Been to a couple of these, always a good time no matter who plays... last one we went to had Jack Bruce, Melanie, "Badfinger", Jonathan Edwards, Eric Burdon/Animals... and of course Flo & Eddie. Tickets are decently priced and the accoustics are comparable to Kleinhans.

I was worried that Red Hot Chili Peppers were going to be showing their age in a big way.  They're still great.  No signs that they're slowing down.  Awesome show.

I am looking to add Beck and Phoenix to the 2023 concert lineup this August.  I hate Sunday night shows.
