[Edit] The Obligatory Edmunds Thread (was: Edmunds name-only title)

How can they keep him at MLB? We have seen it game after game. It's because they traded up to get him and don't want to admit what a terrible move it was. No instincts, gets screened off all the time, no impact plays. No way they can pay him top $$$$.

Edmunds is a freak athletically. His issue seems to be gap control and over pursuing plays. He also struggles to shed blocks at the point of attack. Milano also was out of position on several plays last night and it was mind boggling that it took our coaching staff three quarters to send a linebacker up the gap when the guard was pulling.

with McD's "do your 1/11th" mantra, which is fine, no need to pay top 5 money to anyone on defense... just get guys who can do their 1/11th... calling Edmunds the Bills "middle linebacker" like it means Dick Butkus or something is wrong, he's just one guy who happens to call the defensive set and then goes and does his 1/11th... which he struggles with on run plays.   so yeah, interesting decision this offseason on him, probably offer him Milano $$ and see what happens.  If he leaves, he leaves.

Very fortunate the Saints did not have half their offensive roster or any of their skill guys.   They'd have run over this defense as well.   Teams have figured out the Bills defense ... just run it at them and run it some more

He’s got a 100 Million dollar body and a $.10 brain, he has shown it for years, if he can see the ball and run to it, no problem, read gaps, anticipate angles etc, nope.   He should never have been signed to the 5th year extension, there was zero reason for it, so get used to watching him, he’s not going anywhere.   He could be a decent OLB, but this staff continues to try to break the corners off square pegs to cram them into round holes.

Watch the 64 yard TD run and you see him slide right past the hole as Harris goes through.  He ALWAYS overruns and thinks he can use his weak ass arms and length to make up for it.  He rarely finishes a tackle either.  Let him walk and sign a vet MLB so we can have a D to help win now.

Agreed he’s an OLB this team has two OLBs and no MLBs

How about the LB's in general? Milano had his fair share of whiffs and "catching" the blocker rather than attacking and shedding. I know Edmunds is the poster boy of "he sucks" around here and last night was not his night, but Milano isn't setting the world on fire either.

milano showed up and made plays. Edmunds... did not. *sad trombone*

It was understandable when -as a teenager,  he was thrust into a starting role because he’s an absolute physical freak. But now that he can buy rounds of cocktails while his unawareness remains staggering prevalent, his future here must be re-evaluated. To those crying we shouldn’t have added the 5th year option on the 1st Rounder, it was a shrewd option to see if he would finally grow into the role at the veteran age of 22 (Ha!). He hasn’t and the team can now opt to let him test FA after next season unrestricted by a ton of dead money for years after.

As a courtesy to the other board members, please use more descriptive topic titles. A single name if far too vague to post as a title and provides little insight into what specifically the post is talking about. The topic starter can edit the topic title line to make it more appropriate.

Thank you.
