They've been saying this for awhile.  They have to wait until the war is over.  But by then, there won't be much of a country left.

There are basically two sides in the Ukraine War debate on X:

Those who can see the writing on the wall and believe

Ukraine should seek to negotiate a settlement while it still can.

Those who, safely out of range, demand that every last Ukrainian

be rounded up to fight for a doomed cause,

while lying about the situation on the ground and smearing anyone who wants peace.

Despite the smears now, I have no doubt which group history will look more kindly upon.

You and I along with several other posters suspected and saw the US government's and specifically the CIA's fingerprints all over this conflict from the Maidan coup in 2014 all the way to present day actions such as targeting and intelligence support for hitting Russian targets.  Other stories I've seen claim UK and French troops are manning Ukraine's Patriot and other missile systems.  Something the simple-minded here incorrectly believe is purely a battle for democracy between Ukraine and invading Russian forces is so much more.

But what's the motivation to give the green light to the NYT to reveal the story now in much detail?  Surely it was intentionally "leaked" and perhaps written word for word by the US intelligence services.  But why this admission of participation now?  My guess is some new direction or narrative about the the conflict and objectives but which way, who can say?

What does this have to do with Sweden joining NATO?

So the Russian invasion was not an unprovoked attack? It was, it seems, a justified reaction to the CIA's direct involvement at the Russia/Ukraine border. That should make those who are cheering for this war to continue take a pause.

Nope, it was an unprovoked attack. Like Yevgeny Prighozin said.

https://theintercept.com/2023/07/01/prigozhin-truth-putin-war-ukraine/

"The Ministry of Defense is trying to deceive the public and the president and spin the story that there were insane levels of aggression from the Ukrainian side and that they were going to attack us together with the whole NATO bloc,” Prigozhin said on his Telegram channel on June 23. The truth, he said, was that “there was nothing extraordinary happening on the eve of February 24,” the day last year when Russian invaded. Ukraine was not planning any kind of attack against Russia, he added.

Russia’s invasion “was started for a completely different reason,” Prigozhin said. “What was the war for? The war was needed for Shoigu to receive a hero star. … The oligarchic clan that rules Russia needed the war,” he said. “The mentally ill scumbags decided: ‘It’s OK, we’ll throw in a few thousand more Russian men as cannon fodder. They’ll die under artillery fire, but we’ll get what we want.’”

“Shoigu killed thousands of the most combat-ready Russian soldiers in the first days of the war,” Prigozhin said, adding that the invasion began even as Zelenskyy and Ukraine were eager for peace. The Ukrainian leader “was ready for agreements. All that needed to be done was to get off Mount Olympus and negotiate with him.”

I don't see anything in their reasoning about the CIA.

Looks like the next hot spot is Maldova.  For anyone not familiar with the place it's a slice of real estate between Romania and Ukraine.  220K Russian citizens reside in the province of Transnistria.  The plot here is a familiar story.  Post-Soviet era map.

Get set to for everyone to change their Twitter flag pins with the admintration looking for billions in aid for our latest strategic allie nobody's heard of.
