I wouldn’t assume everyone who’s currently vaxxed will automatically do that. 

A hypothetical, not related to your post, but just in general:

 

Lets say everyone on our team is fully vaxxed.  Let’s say they test once per week.  Let’s say Josh Allen is around a covid positive person on Day 5 of the 7 day testing window.  Josh Allen develops mild symptoms and misses a week of practice and a game.   That could’ve been avoided by daily testing.  Simply vaxxing everyone doesn’t solve that.

Not at all, serous question.  It was posed today at work. Isn’t it being transmitted by both vaxxed and unvaxxed? My boss was perplexed and so was the health department. Honest question. Wouldn’t it make sense to test everyone to keep everyone safe and not transmit?

You’re correct, I was just looking at from more of a literal prospective commenting on an increase of rules and regulations, as opposed to a scientific outlook. I think many of us had a dream the 2021 could take place with fewer precautions, testing, and the like post vaccine. I understand why, and it is what it is, you just hope your team isn’t impacted greatly. The NFL did a great last season, we’ll see what happens this year.

I mean the more testing you do the safer you're going to be that's kind of self evident. Even if everyone got vaccinated it'd still be safer testing everyone daily.

That definitely seems to be the logical thing to do.

Either mandate vaccines and don't test at all, or test both vaxed and unvaxed every single day. There shouldn't be an in between.

At this point definitely but I do get the idea of incentivizing vaccinations with relaxed protocols....it just didn't work well enough.

I can see this quickly changing considering how much more contiguous the Delta is. Likely end up having to test everyone everyday again like last season. Frustrating situation

He is wrong about a lot, and no point in rehashing - evvybuddy already got out their views in several threads and not gonna agree.

 

But Beasley does have valid points that unvaccinated players can not be adequately protected from infection by Delta with vaccinated players and staff tested once every 14 days and not required to mask indoors, and it sounds like the NFL has taken a first step towards changing that.

The NFL used not getting tested every day as an incentive for players to get vaccinated.  I don't see how they go back on that now as there's going to be a lot of ticked off players.

It needs to happen. It's two weeks right now, right? A player could contract COVID, have mild symptoms, and completely recover within two weeks, all between tests.

 

The Titans are like 97% vaccinated, right? And they just had an outbreak because, as they surmise, vaccinated players went out for dinner before a game.

 

Unfortunately, it just seems like the smartest thing to do is to go back to last year's protocols for everyone, just to be safe.

 

(I tried to keep this completely football related and I am not bashing anyone or anything related to COVID. Hope my comment is not out of line. Despite the constant warnings from mods on the board, I'm still fuzzy on what's allowed to say and what's not. That's why I usually do not comment on COVID related threads at all, recently)

Things have changed. I hope the NFL tries to do the right thing instead of worrying about players being unhappy. Pandemics just aren't happy things. Nobody is happy about it.

This, exactly. The situation changed so the rules have to change. Very frequent testing for all provides the highest safety margin. The vaccinated are less likely to transmit it, but not so much less likely that it is worth not testing them more often than 1/week. The testing is uncomfortable but let's face it these guys can deal with a lot of uncomfortable things for their job.
