    • Love it. Bills got a great deal, this will ensure the team is great for a long time.

    • I'm "Okay" with it I guess. Wish it was a bit lower of a deal, or they waited another year though.

    • Hate it. Even with the way it is structured, the Bills will regret giving him this extension.

Not exactly.

Personally I am fine with it, because I think he isn't the highest paid guy in the league, and he is likely to be passed by a few more guys by the time the deal is done, and I like him as a QB.

However, I can see people out there thinking "he did it only for one year" or " there is a chance this could be a Wentz/Goff type situation" and I still here a few people (not many, but a few) thinking his success is a result of a perfect storm of the right coach and right surrounding cast.  I just thought a poll would be good to see where everyone lands on there, some people may not think it is a good deal and don't want to make a direct post about it because they don't want to be attacked by the vast majority of us who do think it is a good deal.

Look at this offense and you can tell that Josh Allen is the main reason it’s so good. With Goff, you could see that the guy was just going through his reads and doing exactly what the coaches brainwashed him to do. Josh Allen is so similar to Brett Favre (screw the Big Ben comparisons) in ways because a lot of times he improvises and adapts. I think he would’ve been successful wherever he went even the Jets.

There will be some pretty severe consequences unless Allen renegotiates in a couple years. The Bills will shift from a team that can get good players in free agency and re-sign their own, to one that can't afford good players on a 2nd contract. We will become a team that relies on their 3rd round pick to outplay their contract.

There is a reason the top paid QBs don't win Super Bowls, and teams with QBs on rookie/below market value deals do.

Meanwhile……Mason Rudolph is battling Dwayne Haskins and Josh Dobbs for a roster spot.

**** Mason Rudolph!!  I’ll hate him for all the nightmares he caused me before the 2018 draft.

How did he cause you nightmares??

The thought of Mason Rudolph being the Bills QB……should’ve caused everyone nightmares.  He was being projected as a possible target prior to us trading up.  I had him rated as the 2nd worst player on earth. 2nd only to peterman after I was lucky enough to attend the charger game in 2017

So are you "the 1" lol

I'm always the 1:lol:

No I didn't vote, but I am ecstatic because we signed the future GOAT to a nice contract extension... I just wanted a 12 year contract because his price is going to skyrocket after we win the Super Bowl every year.

What's the AFCCG? Is getting to that a big deal or do they let anyone in?

Dunno if this is sarcasm or not, but I’ll reply in kind.  AFCCG = american football conference championship game.  It was the game that ended our season last year.  Edmunds play (along with the entire D, OL, WRs and coaching game plan) in that game was abysmal

1) I am ecstatic that Josh and the Bills extended the contract;

2) There always is a risk, but Josh does not strike me as a guy who is going to be affected by the money or rest on his laurels; no matter what happens, I am confident Josh will continue to work hard;

3) I have not done the cap analysis. I was concerned about a Joe Flacco situation (or Wentz situation).  When Flacco got every last dollar out of the Ravens, the Ravens could not afford to keep other players etc.  I presume that the Bills anticipate that, regardless of the huge amount of the contract, the salary cap will be going up substantially and we will not be hamstrung by the amount of the contract - especially given that it is my understanding that the structure of the deal in the next couple of years is "team friendly" and there is cap flexibility down the road.

Well done Bills!

Well done Josh!

So if Josh plays the way he did in the AFCCG this new contract is a debacle?

Josh struggled a bit, but I wouldn’t categorize his play as so bad that the Bills should not have given him this extension.  The comment makes no sense to me.

It was either this contract or start over again in two years. $43 bucks a year is the price of an elite QB, like it or not.

While Josh Allen may very well be the kind of guy who would rather make $10M per and have more money in the till for signing better teammates, the NFLPA and a lot of talent agents would explode if that kind of thing happened. Guys pretty much have to sign for their market value, or very close.

you’re comparing apples to oranges.  Edmunds has never played at the level that Allen played at for basically the entire 2021 season.  In edmunds’ best season, he was barely even a fraction of the player allen was last season.  Not to mention that the OL in the AFCCG played its worst game of the year and was the main reason why Allen played like he did.

To further explore the question…..if Josh Allen played the rest of his career like he did in the AFCCG……,then yes……his contract would absolutely be a debacle.

do you think allens contract would be a debacle if he always played like he did in the AFCCG?  Simple answer. Yes, it would be a debacle.   Luckily for us, that’s very unlikely to happen.

In the years that I’ve noticed you on this board, I can’t remember a time that you were on board with anything that I’ve said.  Nothing but negative.

Not a negative - I am trying to understand.  This is a thread about Allen and his contract and was it worth it.

Your statement was if he played the way he played in the AFCCG then the contact is a debacle.

No where do you mention Edmunds - so are you talking Edmunds or are you talking about Allen?

The guy asks you about the AFCCG and there you dance around and say something about Edmunds- so my question is are you talking about an unknown Edmunds contract or are you talking about the Allen contract being a debacle?

I am guessing based upon your response you are talking about an Edmunds contract - which is not what was being talked about here and since your original post does not mention a name - we would all assume you are saying the Allen signing will be a debacle if he plays the way he did in the AFCCG.

You are literally quoting a guy that quoted you talking about Josh’s contract.  He said it would be a bargain and you literally said “it would be a bargain if he improves”. Then you say if he plays the way he did in the AFCCG it would be a debacle - all relating to Josh’s contract.

I think you might have just gotten confused which thread you were in.

My fault.  Involved in too many allen contract threads.  I thought Big Turk was responding to a post of mine that was talking about Edmunds, hence my response was with regards to Edmunds. My bad

I know! I think Josh should’ve taken even LESS money than his rookie contract! I just hate it when teams pay their good players a decent and fair salary and actually make the front office and coaches earn their money!!! 🤬🤬🤬

See how ridiculous this sounds??
