OZBILLS
Have a read in here. I love my cards, just too expensive!
Nextmanup
There was a thread on trading cards just a few weeks ago. I got into NHL hockey cards for a small period of time in undergrad, then never went back to it. Never got into football cards at all. Wacka
Friend got divorced in the late 80s. They did't have much so they split 50-50 , no kids. Used two Montana rookie cards to pay for his lawyer.
TBBills
I have every football card from 1985-1995, my Grandmother bought them when I was born making complete team collection in binders for me as I was growing up... I really need to find all of those binders. Most of those cards were touched once when opened, as a kid thankfully I was not allowed to touch them(Even though my grandmother would collect them for me.) Wondering what I have in that collection now... Edited November 24, 2020 by TBBills
TBBills
Now that I think about it... I think my grandmother had a problem b.c she would collect everything. Especially when McDonald's would do those collectables. The plushy dolls I remember she went and collected every single one. Mcdonald's what was that holloween stick guy? She collected all those glass mugs and stuff like that.
OZBILLS
Wish I didn't open my box of 2017 Prizm. Could have fetched a cool $7,000
ndirish1978
I did as a kid. Had all kinds of albums and cards in hard sleeves - went back and looked at them all - pretty much nothing wound up with value. You'd think a thurman thomas and several Shaq rookie cards would be worth at least a couple of bucks.

And everybody kept them too thinking they’d be worth money some day. There’s just a lot of them out there today. I’m currently sitting on 10 Jim Kelly rookies probably worth about 10 bucks a piece
OZBILLS
It's all about the 1 of 1s now. Base cards are just a pain in the ass
Helpmenow
Sold all my football cards that I had in the 60’s from the NFL except the afl tall boys.

Mark80
Advice - Be prepared to lose a lot of money. If you go in planning to make money you are going to be disappointed. So, buy things you think are cool and are going to want to keep, not things you think are going to be worth whatever down the line so you can sell them for a profit. That is a game for distributors and folks that have been doing this far longer than you!

They're probably getting all bent and smelly. 1

Hate to say it...those are really nice cards, but they are worth close to nothing. As Brennan Huff mentioned above, they were mass produced. They are really sharp looking cards though. A nice memento of the good old days. Edited December 1, 2020 by Buftex 1

If they are in perfect condition (including centering which you have no control of), they could be worth some bux. The rest are basically worthless (other then sentimental value of course). Like A Mofo
Only way to really make money in that hobby is sell the unopened stuff and somehow purchase them in bulk to save per box and flip say a box bought at 60 dollars each for 90 dollars each. Once boxes of cards are opened, they depreciate hard even more then a new car off the lot. People pay premium for the CHANCE. PastaJoe
I have alot of cards from the 60s through the 90s, all sports. Some of the long AFL cards including Jack Kemp. When I retire soon my goal is to go through all of them and sell them. Trying to downsize. Not looking to make money as much as find someone who will appreciate them. Also have a number of Starting Lineup figures still in their plastic.
Helpmenow
Pasta joe, missing three cards out of the 65 tall boys. I had them on eBay until yesterday and pulled them. Offers were too low

Hey Joe, when you say "all sports" does that include 60's and 70's NBA? There are some real treasures there. Though the NBA was a national sport then, kinda like hockey now, it had a more regional appeal. NBA cards were never as widely distribured. Yes, I’d say 70s NBA and ABA. Pretty sure I have a Rick Berry ABA card. They’re packed away in the basement.
