I apologize for linking the same article repetitively and would welcome a better source for the basis of NFL rules. The assumption under which NFL games are being played is that the contacts during the game are too short to constitute "close contacts": "On a football field, you’re not going to have close contact, because the average football play lasts about six seconds." 6 seconds x 60 plays is 6 minutes. The same would apply to the usually-brief post-game bro hugs and handshakes, but the argument there is they're unnecessary to play the game. Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted October 7, 2020 Share Posted October 7, 2020 One thing I haven't read about at all, with all the Covid restrictions being imposed on teams, one thing I was wondering about. Typically each team sends a couple of coaches/scouts to attend the game of the following weeks opponent. For example under normal times, Tenn would have been at this weeks Buffalo game and The Bills would have been at the Pitt-Tenn game scouting and filming the Titans. I haven't read anything if teams are still allowed to do this or not. Considering how restrictive they are being with even announcers wouldn't be surprised if no longer allowed. The NFL needs to come out and say difinitively what is happening. So Goodell either says: -We will try and move the Titans game to Monday. We are moving the Buffalo/KC game to Sunday to allow everybody to prepare and schedule properly. or -We are cancelling the Titans/Bills game entirely for the time being and will attempt to make that game up at the end of the season. Buffalo vs. KC will go on as scheduled on Thursday. You gotta give these players some structure and answers to help keep the league grounded. This has to be a nightmare as a player. McD said it was difficult to focus on the Raiders game because of the Titans testing. Now we are actually playing the Titans, and we don't even know when or if they are playing as they keep testing positive. Then we don't know our game after that. It is wild. The league should hand out a Covid award at the end of the year to the team who managed it the best. If the Bills get through murderers row of covid teams without an incident, we are a shoe in. Raiders- They have basically been trying to get Covid, and it is a miracle they have not. They are the NFL version of college COVID parties Titans- Largest Covid hot spot at the moment. He sucks He's not. He implemented protocols that have been relatively successful, all the things considered. He then left himself flexibility to adapt to challenges as they arise.
