CBA voted and APPROVED by players/owners

Quality won't change. Makes no sense. Many times better teams miss the playoffs.

Usually it is worse teams that miss the playoffs. Occasionally you have a good team miss. The quality will absolutely go down and it will become more common for .500 teams to make it.

Under this format, who would have gotten in last year? The 8-8 Steelers and the 9-7 Rams, two teams who had disappointing seasons and had no business being in the playoffs.

I mean would the Rams of been worse than the Eagles?

Great!

Does anyone know if there were changes to the G-4 stadium funding program? Perhaps we'll hear something about the owners' intentions in the near future, now that the CBA has been settled.

All I can add is I read there is a "media kicker" that will increase the players' share of revenue from 48% to 48.8% if the TV contracts increase by a certain amount. And according to what I read, none of that increase can be affected by the stadium credits given through the stadium construction program (G4). So I have to assume it's  still there, either the same as before or something similar.

Would have liked to see it accompanied by a 2nd bye week.

If I'm reading things correctly there will be a bye week after the 3rd preseason game. Not quite the same thing but they'll have an extra rest day before the season starts.

I like the changes they made to the active roster. Teams get one extra offensive lineman and one other extra player on game day. They can also call up 2 practice squad players to the roster each week, and a player can be sent back to the practice squad twice without being subject to waivers. So there's moe flexibility there.

So we should let both of them in because they are both mediocre? Why have two low quality teams when you could only have one?

This argument supports NOT expanding the playoffs. Great example of further diluting the quality.

I don’t think the line between “sucks” and “playoff team ” is drawn at the 7th best team of 16.

Granted I over stated it, but that team was not good enough in the past, but now gets in, dilutes the postseasons importance when you let in your little brother, do to speak.

OK with the 17 games.  Only way to not take away a home game from the neutral site host.  Hate the dilution of the regular season by playoff expansion.

It's not neutral sites. Each team will play 1 more game against the other conference (AFC plays NFC) and each year they alternate which conference plays at home. So no team in either conference plays more home games than anyone else in their conference (ie it has no effect on playoff seeding).

Normally it's stupid tie breakers that decide the last spot. It would be rare for a team like last year's Steelers to get in. Most of the time the 7th team is pretty equal to the 6th team, sometimes better. Like 2017 when the Bills made it over Baltimore and San Diego.

But let's say Ben Roethlisberger would be healthy for the playoffs. Sometimes injury makes better teams worse.

Not at all. It's still only 14 teams out of 32. 14 is the perfect amount.

No, no it’s not, it should be just the division winners, but now everyone gets a star... granted most of us here will be dead then, but this will lead to 16 teams making the playoffs in the. Future. Get Off My Lawn! ???

I love that there's no risk of a stoppage and certainly prefer an extra regular season game to a pre-season game, BUT, I hate the idea of only one team getting a bye.  Way too big of an advantage IMO.

The best playoff format was 3 divisions and 5 playoff teams per conference.  Divisions were harder to win, all division winners get a bye, first round was just for the wild cards.  I wish they would go back to that.   Baseball has it correct now, but of course they'll screw it up soon enough.

Yeah, that's a great format.

the additional playoff game was not an issue with the players; all the major sports are trending to make the post-season more inclusive ,and given our playoff history we as Bills fans should welcome our increased opportunity to watch our qb throw a bomb to our fullback in double coverage.

""Active game-day rosters increased from 46 to 48 players"

Like this! We could have used that last year (Duke and Yeldon could have been active all year)

Not true...one of the additional 2 players has to be an offensive lineman. If not, then a team only gets 47 players.

Throw out all of the regular season individual records (rushing, receiving, passing yards, etc.), they will broken soon.

This has kinda been the case with passing in general over the last decade or so. They've made it soo hard for defenders during this time that passing stats aren't what they used to be. Look at guys like Stafford, Rivers, Winston, Ryan, Goff etc etc etc... this list goes on and on. Look at the numbers these guys put up, none of which I would consider elite yet seasonal numbers dwarf some of the true greats. Let's not even look at the receiving numbers guys have put up either. We'll get over it in time and we'll all have all these things to argue about for years to come. ?
