SoCal Deek
As far as I can tell we reached another milestone yesterday. Friday was the first day in which NY State did not lead the nation in deaths. PA and NJ took the top two spots but here again only four states were in excess of 100 Covid related deaths and only just barely. Possibly an even more important stat is that 30 out of 50 states (60%) recorded no Covid deaths at all on Friday. B-Man
The CDC guidelines for opening places of worship are here. They are onerous. During the last ten minutes of the press briefing, Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany takes the stage and is barraged with questions about opening the churches. Reporters who undoubtedly have no problem shopping at Costco, Target and Total Wine seem to view churches as unique centers of disease.

I have been at Home Depot, Lowes, the food store and the like and like clockwork, folks are buying such essentials as grills, paint, pavers and decking material. Limit is now 100 people or so, people ripping their masks off as soon as they clear the store exit. On the other hand, places of worship are targeted with no such allowances. I'm not a church goer, have not been for years, but something is wrong here.

Chef Jim
I was wondering how the CARE Act affected the FSA rules of "Use it or Lose it". The rule was changed in 2013 (Thanks Obama) that you could "rollover" $500 of your FSA to the next year (sarcastic yay) but anything else above that was lost. So I looked up to see if there was any changes in the CARE Act regarding this seeing lots of non-insurance covered elective care and procedures have been canceled. And what did I find? YES!! They have made changes to the FSA rules. Here here they are: 1. Menstrual products are now reimbursable 2. OTC drugs are now reimbursable without prescription (ummmm they are OTC) or a doctor's note (who get's a Dr's note anyway for OTC) And that's it. Those two things are sure to bring great sighs of relief to those who are struggling and boost our economy! The forethought and wisdom of our government on display every day!

How do people think all of these failed attempts at socialism, communism, and totalitarianism got started? Do you think people woke up one day and said to themselves “let’s try a significant amount of freedom suppression for a change of pace”? No....there was almost always a convenient excuse falsely used to get people to freely give up their God given freedoms. The Left has been dying for just such a ‘crisis‘ here....and they believe they’ve found it in the corona virus.

Some comments in this thread seem judgmental about religion and/ or those who wish to attend houses of worship. This is about constitutional rights, and I fully support the folks who want to attend. They are being unfairly oppressed by tyrannical Governors, no two ways about it. 1
3rdnlng
Saw this on social media. No link available. Having dictated last year what vaccines Christians must put in their bodies, now Maine Governor Janet Mills wants to dictate which churches Christians will be allowed to attend. Mills prohibits ALL church gatherings, including drive-in church. She now says churches will not be able to reopen until she is satisfied with the "metrics," but she will not say what the "metrics" mean. So, there is no way to know when Gov. Mills will be satisfied. Even after the "metrics" are reached, churches will have to apply to reopen, and will be chosen based on a checklist of requirements developed by the state. As of this writing, that checklist has not been released by the State of Maine. Churches that fully comply with Gov. Mills' demands (whenever they are revealed), and are approved by her, will be given a "badge" to display outside their church indicating the church has fully complied and is approved by Mills. The very idea of "Governor-Approved Churches" flies in the face of both the First Amendment and biblical principles of governance and lawful authority.

I cannot wait to see how many of these mini-dictators get reelected. The RNC may want to consider running some quality candidates (or at least supporting some quality candidates) in these states. Let's see if they flip. Are people really pissed off, or not?
