8/25/2019 - Captain Andrew Luck lays down his side arm for a peaceful life in the country side with his ever anxious mother. A gentleman, a scholar, and the great soldier we didn't deserve.

One thing I learned in the whole Luck retirement saga is the guy behind this Twitter account stole the idea from Roger Sherman from The Ringer.

‘Quit on his team’...lol this ain’t college football

That's the worst part of it. The other guys in the locker room just lost an integral part of them. No different then losing the best man at your job, only this time he did it 2 weeks before the season starts. "Let me take my $90 million and run, Haynesworth style"

Saddened by this.

A great loss to the Colts.

A greater loss to the NFL.

In November prior to the year Luck was drafted, I was at Churchill Downs for the Breeder’s Cup, with some buddies.

There, before the final race, I spotted dude with a Colts’ Luck jersey- SIX MONTHS before he was even drafted! ?

Some people are more injury prone than others, and some simply aren’t fast healers. It takes a special body type to have the physical ability, mental capacity, and durability to stick around the league. Clearly Luck was not healthy. You don’t miss an entire season if you are healthy. Luck had this mysterious ankle / calf injury that seemed to never heal. You can’t blame an athlete for being frustrated and unable to play at 100% physical capability. It’s like Jim Kelly in 1997. He could have played till 1999 or 2000, but why play as a shadow of his former self?

I am watching his press conference, and just curious - is it me, or he is not able to pronounce "thank" at all? I am not native speaker but I've never heard such weird pronunciation.

Were you around when the Bills had Leodis McKelvin?

After watching Luck's interview i didn't realise he was in that much pain he is making the right choice.

However i believe he could come back after he heals up and doesn't have the pressure of having to come back as soon as possible and can relax for awhile.

The issue with him coming back after a year or 2 off and healthy is that if he gets hurt again, it's back to the same reason why he retired in the first place.

Which leads me to believe that he's done for good.

the desire to compete in most athletes is strong and deep down he didn't want to retire and doesn't want to go out like this, so once he starts feeling good he may change his mind.

Worked for Bret Favre.

The one reason he specified though was he never wanted to do what he did in 2016 again (where he was too hurt to practice each week, but was playing in games).  He vowed to never do that again to himself.  So what if that were to happen to him week 4 into first year back?  Would he retire after the year again?  That’s why I feel like he’s done

Me neither.  This could be a Michael Jordan type situation and he comes back in two years.

Lol now he's Michael Jordan?  What if he came back in three days?  Should we start referring to August 24 as Good Saturday?

The legend of Kim Jung QB must only grow in his absence.

No.  Luck's white.  The last retirement that shocked me this much was actually Jordan.  He's nowhere near as dominant as his sport as Jordan, but he's young enough (like Jordan) to take a couple of years off and still have a good six or seven years in the league if he returns.

Talk about an entitled, ****** fan base, I can't believe some of the comments.

I hope they are now faced with a 20 yr QB search and an equally long playoff drought.

Luck isn’t a pimple on Manning’s butt.

Andrew luck .   *.  You will be remembered as a quitter.

Can we get an Andrew quit chant going at Lucas oil?  Would make my day

Where's the jersey burning party at?

If he’s quit in this team, he needs escorted from the building...

I hope everyone burns his jersey as he leaves town. Lost all respect for him.

Nope. He’s a quitter. Plain and simple

Really hope he enjoys "travelling the world" with his trophy wife.  He should be shunned, and his name removed from all Colts archives.  To heck with him and his advisor (dad).

I realize there are ******** everywhere, and we would probably have a few similar comments here under similar circumstances, but reading their board it just seems over the top.

I don't blame the fans one bit.

Not one bit. Luck HAD to have known this back in the spring when the team could have made an adjustment.

Yes, it's his right to quit when he wants to. But that RIGHT doesn't insulate him from criticism.
