Coonman says it wasn’t him, after yesterday’s apology ???

The only thing that would make the KKK guy being in the photo acceptable is if the guy in Blackface was pummeling him.

Otherwise, who the heck shows up anywhere in a KKK outfit?

...and who the heck wants his photo taken next to the guy in the KKK outfit?

Again...if it were a black guy in the Klan costume and Northam in blackface...

I remember, good old Coonman was cheered for that

From your link:

It was insulting, but, on the other hand, I thought it was consistent with the way he behaves. Because, this spot he’s been running, saying that I believe that a child born with birth defects is born that way because of their parents’ sin is just a damnable, palpable, despicable lie. I don’t believe that. I never said anything like that. And it’s that kind of dishonesty that, to me, says this is not the kind of person that needs to be holding state-wide office. Not shaking my hand really just confirmed that.

Ken Klukowski has a report detailing reaction from black civil rights leaders over the insulting snub.

Then the black guy in the Klan costume should be pummeled for being an idiot of immense proportions.

The alternative you’re suggesting is that it would be okay somehow?  I doubt this was a Northam “sensitivity” photo, decades ahead of its time.

Wouldn't a black guy in a Klan outfit be Cultural Appropriation?

I was also a yearbook editor and agree with your wife. I also agree that the blackface is meh (artistic expression), but the KKK stuff was completely inappropriate even 35 years ago.

That's the part that people seem to be missing in all of this and why I wouldn't be surprised if he does eventually resign.  Just don't let him do any more radio interviews in the prcoess and the guy's having a bad week.

Yes, I am suggesting that.  Because it would be an ironic statement on race relations.

We have all done things we’re not proud of in the past, and our most offensive and obnoxious moments do not encapsulate our lives. But given an American elite culture that is regressing to a secular version of old puritanical norms, whereby sinners are branded for life and there are political points to be scored for casting them into hellfire, it is not surprising that Northam was immediately deluged with calls to resign.

agreed. people change. i know i most certainly am not the same person i was in my late teens/early twenties. most everyone has done something stupid in their past. you live, you learn and hopefully you become a better person. while your past is part of who you are, that alone shouldn't define the criteria for the basis of who you are today.

That's my problem with all the self righteous soapbox yelling sjw's. If there was some type of bubble floating over everyone detailing there past indiscretions, I'm sure there would be a lot less people willing to cast stones.

Not me.  I'm as clean as a Klansman's sheets...

Coonman didn’t pose for that picture. Somebody else made that happen.

Someone:

Dressed up as a klansman
Took the photo
Developed the photo
Submitted it to the yearbook staff
Proofed it
Signed off on it (including an advisor)

CNN discussing how "difficult" it must be for Gov Coonman at a time like this.....he might stay in office so he can foster a "discussion on race" and "promote healing".

That's actually a fairly reasonable position. It's highly unlikely the intent was to promote racism or the KKK.

I think the only reason conservatives scoff at this is that they know CNN would never take such a reasonable approach to a similarly situated Republican.

Just now, DC Tom said:

Northam calls a staff meeting during the first half of the Superbowl.

Anyone want to guess what announcement's coming in the second half?

Spin #6?

nice set of advisers he has, there was no need to respond for at least 24 hours except to resign

I'm not worried.  I'm sure there's a picture of Skynet in blackface out there somewhere...

Doesn't matter, Skynet is a Democrat. All will be forgiven as a youthful indiscretion.

It wants everyone to be equal (both socially and economically) under Skynet, with all dissent from the organics ruthlessly crushed in late late late late term abortion factories.

It was actually Bill Belichick in the blackface, thus invalidating all of his Super Bowl victories?

WHY DEMOCRATS WILL OUST GOV. NORTHAM

FTA:

Third, and the main point of this post, Democrats are going to make sure Northam steps down. They have to for a simple reason: the Democrats’ main tactic nowadays is to accuse all Republicans of racism. If they give Northam a pass on this, it blunts their favorite attack. They can’t afford to give up this weapon because it is central to their long-term electoral strategy, which is to divide Americans between white and non-white populations, and pit them against each other.

What else is the purpose of the whole leftist campaign to demonize “white privilege,” and the growing number of “whiteness studies” courses on campus whose focus is that white people are the focus of evil in the modern world? So Northam is acceptable collateral damage for the long-term interests of the party.

The evidence for this point accumulates steadily. I recall a panel at the 2017 American Political Science Association meeting blasting Hillary Clinton for having chosen Tim Kaine as her running mate instead of a minority, and declaring that if the next Democratic nominee isn’t a woman or person of color, then the running mate has to be. Mark this down as we get closer to the Democratic nomination next year. If it is Joe Biden (who can be thought of as a “legacy” candidate), he will choose a woman or a minority as his running mate. The real sin of Howard Schultz is that he is the wrong sex more than the fact that he is a billionaire.

Finally, why are liberals so obsessed with finding racism down to the microaggression level? Probably because liberals turn out to be the real racists, so they’re projecting their own racism onto their political opponents.

I refer readers back to an item here from a few weeks about about the social science study that found liberals “talk down” to minorities while conservatives talk to everyone equally.

Worth going back to refresh your memory.

Enjoy the next few days while he flails around hoping for a cataclysmic event that will distract the media jackals.  It’s always the best part.

But this will be particularly epic.  Have you ever seen a politician alienate everybody, left and right, so thoroughly and efficiently in 72 hours?

Spitzer maybe.  His fellow Dems were pissed they couldn’t afford $5000/hr hookers while getting state police escorts to the hookups.
